Sebenza Clip Insert - Not entirely happy

I carry my new Large Classic Micarta Sebenza clipless in a belt pouch, so I thought I'd buy the Clip Insert, at a cost of $23.00.

It arrived today and I am a little disappointed. All the other heads of the screws on the Sebenza are nicely recessed:

However the Clip Insert is not countersunk and the screw head sits proud of the knife's body:

Hmm , yes that is a tad disappointing isn't it . I have run a Seb without clip or insert , was OK with me , just depends if you can get on with it that way .

Paul.

I'm not exactly sure what the matter is..did you expect there to be a recess in the insert so the screw sits flush like the other screws do? The original screw that comes with the clip sits the same way.

Django, you're right. I removed the clip on the day that I received the Seb, so I couldn't remember how the screw looked.

The insert couldn't really be countersunk because it's so thin to start with.

I'll either live with it..or take the insert out again. . it's not that much of a big deal really.

I don't really care for the look without the screw in. It almost looks like something's missing(I suppose something is:) .
Will your knife go in your pocket or in a sheath?

In a belt sheath.

I'm going to stick with the clip insert. If the screw is put in without the insert it protrudes on the inside of the scale.

I'd recommend flipping all the screws on the body, and leaving in the insert with the screw. That way, all of the screw heads are on one side of the knife (which doesn't look as screwy to my eye), and the other side of the knife with two inlays looks even cleaner.

I love my Micarta Sebbie.

Great pictures by the way, I have a large Micarta as well. Just be very careful when you put the screw in without the insert - it can extend past the inside of the scale and your blade can hit it, resulting in a very dull spot on your edge, or even a chip.

(I also reverse my screws ;))

I have reversed the other three screws and now the knife looks perfectly balanced! I'm now entirely happy :D

Many thanks for your help.

Thanks for posting this  . I was thinking of grabbing the insert. But out of your pics, I prefer it with just the empty space.

I was thinking about buying an insert when I ordered my regula Sebenza but now I'm happy I did not buy it. Thanks for the pics.
Screw but no insert looks best for my eyes
