Sebenza clip question

I have a small regular that I carry in my front right pocket. It is a right-hand model. I was just thinking... Why is that I have to flip the knife in my hand after drawing it from my pocket, to get to the thumb stud to open it? That adds time and may lead to dropping it in a quick access scenario.

It does not look like the clip can be flipped to the other side either. Would a lefty work? Be gentle. I am new to CR's.

It's folders in the tip-down configuration that you have to flip in your hand.

I carry a small Seb as well. When you draw, your thumb should slide down the non-clip side of the handle and find its way to the thumblug before you get it out of your pocket.

Sounds like a case of having to "unlearn what you've learned" in regard to other folders, to quote my boy Yoda. Give it a shot!

Professor.

Law1173, are you drawing the Sebenza with your right hand? Is the clip on the outside of
your pocket and the knife inside your pocket?

Please note my hard, flat, wood grain gut. :)

Mine works perfect!!! I grab it and my thumb is right there on the stud pushing it open?

That is why I like tip up too.

i have inquired with crk about redrilling for tip down carry. tip down was more natural for me, i would grab the pivot with thumb and index finger, and remove from my pocket.

they declined to do the mod, and i have since learned to draw a tip up knife efficiently.

since the majority of my folders are tip up, it seemed an important skill set.

i still have some concern about the blades opening during draw, which happens on occassion. i now draw with my thumb rested on the blade for retention.

i have no need to draw a folder quickly, so that is a non issue.

I guess it may be part of being used to tip down. I am a lefty but do things like throw a ball, carry knife, gun etc with the right hand. All the intricate things like writing and painting are done with the left. I just find that I cannot flip it open sliding the thumb down the non-clip side. Feels like I need a larger knife to get a better grip.

The seasoned knife nuts where I work say that we, as NYS Peace Officers, can carry whatever we want. I am not up on knife laws but maybe a concealed fixed blade is a better choice for me?
