Hey STR,

I just got a large classic Sebenza and the pocket clip seems as soft as butter. I have had to remove it bend it back to the original position and reinstall. I am left handed and carry it in my left pocket and when I turn to slide out of my truck it catches the seatbelt latch and tweeks it a bit. My old AFCK never had this problem so I don'y know if it's the material or design. I am worried I will not notice it one day and will lose it. Do you have any ideas? Thanks

Well, you could let me try to make one either shorter than the factory clip Chris uses or one longer. I'm not sure that would work or if one would be the better than the other but it sounds like the tonque of the clip that slides over the lip of your pocket is in just the right spot to catch the seat latch just as you leave to exit the vehicle.

Perhaps physically making a new clip to match the inlay but to sit longer would allow the clip to be under the latch when you turn perhaps just shortening it would do it. I really don't know other than to just try.

I know what you are saying though because I have done that to one of my own pocket clips when I owned my GMC full size pick up. However it was not something with me that repeated itself again and was just one isolated case.

It might be possible to sand down the tongue of the clip. The part bent upwards that allows the clip to slide over the pocket. If that was taken down some it can still be made to slide over the pocket but it won't stick up as high so it may be possible to do it that way on the original clip too. This could make it more effort to get it started on the pocket but perhaps to save the knife from loss thats what you need in this case. ???

Thanks for the quick reply. I was thinking the clip was just to thin and soft. I can bend it up with very little pressure with my thumbnail. It also does not seem to spring back well, it stays where its bent. The old benchmade I carried for years was very tight and snapped back with force when pulled off the handle. Do you know what metal CR uses for the clip? And what metal would you use to do a lowrider clip for me?

It is interesting that you think your clip is soft. My clips on my Sebenzas are quite stout. Perhaps you should mention this to the folks at Reeves and have them send you a new clip. It may be that a batch got made up with some non knife maker grade titanium somehow if a vendor mixed up supplies and sold them the wrong stuff.

Your description almost sounds like some of the commercially pure titanium that I once got to try to use for clips and it was very much a different animal than the knifemaker grade with different alloys in it to make it stronger. It also anodized to a different shade of each color and didn't match up to the knifemaker grade color well but the main thing I noticed was how incredibly malleable and easy to bend even with my fingers.

I have had several large Sebs and just received my first small Seb. I noticed the pocket clip on the small Seb is thinner than the large Seb clip. The clip on the large is .047" and hard to bend. The small Seb is .034" and is very easily bent. Maybe you have a thin clip rather than the thicker one...
