I was in Las Vegas this last week staying at the Sahara Casino Hotel. I was with the wife and kids so there was not much of a chance for any gambling. I decided I would play a few slots while the family was getting dressed. With only a $2.00 investment I hit the jackpot on a quarter slot and won $500.00 I spoke with my wife and she agreed to let me spend part of the money on a souvenier. I found this great cutlery store on Maryland Parkway. This store had several customs and lots of high end knives. Because of all of the member input and great comments on this forum I decided to get a large Sebenza. The guy gave me a good deal and did not charge me sales tax since I was from out of state.

I like the knife and can see why it is so popular. It has a good look and feels great in the hand. This is a knife I would have bought sooner if the price were lower. However, for the price, I think My Greco Falcon is a better value for the money. One knife that really impressed me was the Chris Reeve one piece survival knife with the hollow handle. This is a well made knife (and probably my next purchase).

On the way back home I stopped at Knife City off I-40 in Arizona. Their sign said wholesale prices...The prices in the store were full retail and above. To their benefit they had a great selection of customs and high end knives.

Congrats on your winning and souvenier. There is allot of hype around Sebenzas for good reason!! Makes me want to take a trip to Atlantic City, so many knives, so little money :(

Good choice on the Sebenza and the store! Bob at R&J Cutlery is a great guy!

Did you see a nice pearl handled damascus folder when you were in there?

EDIT: BTW, if you want to pick up one of the CRK fixed blades, make Bob happy and give him a call. I know he will appreciate the repeat business.

Cograts on the win and the purchase! Lucky dog! I have never held a large sebenza, but I do have the small and I love it! I hope the large serves you well. Please report back after you have had a chance to use it.

I did see that pearl & damascus knife. That is one gorgeous work of art. I was afraid to hold it for fear my wife would leave me (the temptation to buy it was powerful).

man you made me do a bonzai run to the car as soon as I read the title of this thread...I was thinking " Dam don't tell me I dropped my Seb in the Sahara " .....after retreiving my Large Seb from the car I realized that I wasn't even in the Sahara this week....I was just on the phone with them....doh !!

Congrats on the win and Bob is a great guy and a Sebby fan as well.
Too bad you didn't win megabucks when you were here...could have bought allot of Sebbies with that much $$$$

I am not a gambler, so I quit while I was ahead. It was tempting to put the money back in to try to win more. By the way...someone won the megabucks in Vegas while I was there and got 40 million. And yes, Bob is a great guy. He let me play with lots of knives with no pressure. I will definately do business with him again.

I was in Vegas in January and dropped in to R&J and spent about an hour trying out some knives. Bob was very friendly and was about as low key as anyone I have seen working in retail. I picked up a nice little Boye knife before I left. I'll go see him again when I am back in Vegas next January.

I had the chance to handle a couple of Sebenzas will I was there, along with quite a few other knives. It is great to get that opportunity to check out knives first hand. The Sebenzas were as good as I remembered them to be.

Awww!!! You had most of the money in winnings! You could have gotten it!

I'm amazed it hasn't sold yet! When I picked that one up at Knife Expo, I would have sworn that would sell in a heartbeat!

BTW, I'm glad Bob has made such a wonderful impression on everyone who comes in there. He's got quite a task ahead of him to resurrect the store's former popularity...but it looks like he is doing a great job!
