With all the CRK Sebenza options which do you choose?
I own only one Large Plain Insingo and of course I want another. I've tried to talk myself out of buying another Sebenza simply because it doesn't fit my budget comfortably but I cannot resist temptation. After browsing dealers and youtube studying blade shapes, sizes, inlays etc. I decided that I needed a Sebenza with Micarta Inlays. I narrowed down my options to either a Small Micarta Insingo to pair with my Large Plain Sebenza or a Large Micarta Tanto. I have never held a small Sebenza in my hands and I really enjoy the size of the large Sebenza very much. I was weary that the small Sebenza would just feel a little small for me although I'm sure it would grow on me.
I held off for a few days trying to decide which knife I would choose either Large Tanto or Small Insingo and for whatever reason yesterday I threw down and ordered the Large Micarta Tanto ACU Sebenza. I really don't think I would have been disappointed with either but I thought I might share the oppressive compulsiveness in decided "which Sebenza is best?" thats been going on with me for well over a month. It was kinda ridiculous. Now I'll have to continue waiting for a small Sebenza but I am really looking forward to check out this Tanto Blade.

Welcome to bladeforums! I think you made the right choice going for another large based on what you said. For the most part, I think people are either fans of the small sebenza or fans of the large sebenza and end up using one far more than the other. I prefer the small myself, having bought (and then sold) four or five large sebenzas over the past few years. I buy them thinking I will use them, and then later sell them! One nice thing about crk knives is that if you do end up with one you don't like you can sell it for minimal loss.
As for your original question, I have been there and so have most of us here:) You just have to try different versions and options and determine which are best for you.

Thank you for welcoming me and speaking of try different versions... This is going to sound crazy because I still can't believe it but I recently purchased a Numbered Carbon Fiber 25 and ended up sending it back. I took photos of the knife while I had it and I cannot believe I sent it back but there was a reason. The detent was so strong that I could barley open the knife with one hand. I know that it would break in with use and I could always send it in to CRK but I chose the impatient route. i returned the knife in pursuit of another Sebenza 21 instead of 25 which has resulted in me awaiting the arrival of the tanto blade. The Carbon Fiber 25 is gorgeous and I sort of regret sending it back but I still think the tanto blade with micarta will be amazing.

Welcome aboard, sometimes you just have to satisfy that itch. I think you'll be happy with the tanto. They are sweet looking blades. Post pics when she arrives.

My favourite is the one I've got in my hands right now, the small plain sebenza 21. I mean, there is a ton of sweet looking sebenzas out there, but to me(at least for now..) this is the sebenza.

I remember a couple of years ago when I first heard of it and checked out some pictures and started reading about it. I fell in love instantly, there is no knife(folders) that can beat the fantastic looks of this knife and the engineering and metalworks is a benchmark bonus to the owner.

I started with an Umnumzaan, wanted something a bit more elegant so got a Large 21 with Raindrop. I then wanted something smaller so got an Mnandi.

Comparing the Mnandi to the Large Sebenza made me think a small seb would be perfect and I also wanted to try the carbon scale and Insingo blade so I got a small Insingo w/ Carbon Fibre.

While I love that combo I think it's a little on the light and slim side of perfect so my next will be a small with Micarta inlays, I think it will be perfect. The only decision I have left to make is whether to go with Damascus again on this one...

I will probably pick up a Large with Micarta inlays and Insingo blade at some point as well. I also want to get a Ti-Lock at some point, but after that it will probably be only rare/discontinued stuff.

TLDR: Small Sebenza with Micarta Inlays, any blade shape.

I'm with you, justsomedude. Small seb with micarta and I prefer the insingo if I had to choose just one.

Again I haven't actually held a small Sebenza but those were my thoughts exactly... With Micarta inlays on a small Sebenza it would fill the hand and just end up feeling perfect.
I really admire the Damascus finishes on some the Sebenzas but I would really be hesitant to use the knife the way I intend to. I'm sure after a honeymoon period with a Sebenza Damscus blade I'd bring it along as my EDC and begin using it without hesitation. I enjoy the plain large insingo and eventually I'll suck it up and get myself a small insingo too.

Every good thread needs pics :)

One cool thing about micarta is that they all can vary in appearance just like woods can. Here is a prime example..

Tanto blade is amazing! The Micarta inlays are now a must have from here on out with the exception of CF scales. The grip of the Large Micarta Tanto blade is absolutely perfect.
