Sebenza fakes

I just got a newer 2013 Sebenza 21 Insingo with micarta inlays.
It feels MUCH lighter in hand than my older Sebenza Classic 2000.
The F&F is excellent, and it "sounds" like a Sebbie when opening,
but I'm curious now.
Why would it feel that much lighter?
I know they make Sebenza clones/fakes,
but do they even make Sebenza 21 Insingos/micarta fakes?

I know that micarta is lighter than titanium.
And understand that the micarta is not just laid on top and there's a channel dug into the hanldle.
But it must be much deeper than I thought to take off so much weight.
Has anyone weighed these to see the real difference?
Or is it just a "felt" difference?

If you have the box, BC and the scales engraved with a letter and two digit very difficult is a fake

It came with everything, but I haven't taken it apart to see any code on the inside of the handles.
I've seen VERY GOOD fake boxes.
But it was for a regular bladed 21 with no inlays.

No need to take it apart. Just use a flash light. It is on the inner side of the scales towards the lanyard end.

Thanks.
Both sides seem to have "C 12".

I just noticed the washers have the perforations of the newer real ones.
I doubt the clones would copy that almost unnoticeable detail.

Then you should be all set! Where did you get it from? If you are worried in the future, then buy your CRKs from reputable dealers or members on the exchange here.

I got it lightly used, second hand on the bay for 340 BIN.
I was just so surprised by the lighter feel, I got worried for a bit ;-)
I'm never on time to get these on the two forums I frequent.

Thanks for all the input guys.

So it seems not a fake one.
Yes some boxes are false but the mark and the washer are to expensive for a replica or false

Yeah it sounds like it is a real one for sure! I have had a few micarta inlay and they do tend to feel a lot lighter in hand. Quake

Did it come with the birth card. If it does, the date should be after sep 2012. Then it would be consistent.

Very high chance it is not a fake.

I have a pre-'idaho made' version of small insingo and a post-'idaho made' version of small CGG. I don't know about the titanium slabs but the thickness of the clips are definitely different. The pre-idaho-made version has a thicker, thus, heavier clip. Hope this helps.
