Didn't happen. I was between another large wood inlaid Classic and a custom folder from Pat Crawford. Well, the Crawford folder won out .............this time. But I'm already thinking about my upcoming birthday and how nice another sebbie would be!! :D

So, to all a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.

Btw, I got a large Marauder...new model from Pat. www.crawfordknives.com under available knives 1st page at the bottom. Not great pics, but I love the handle shape!

I am hoping that Santa will bring me the CRK I asked for for Christmas, as well as one of the customs. (I was asked to provide a list of customs.) CONGRATS on your new custom sharp and pointy.

I ended up getting the Large Classic Sebenza from a trade about a month ago, so still having my seb money (I intended to get a smaller dress knife like a small mammoth) I came apon a fizzed recurve s30v Matt Cucchiarra custom. I've got to say that I'm even more impressed witht the fit, finish and lockup than I initially was with my Sebs. It's not that it's smoother, they're both as smooth as it gets, it's not that it's more solid.....because again, they don't get any more solid than a seb. It's 4 things, the lockup is almost silent when it engages (SOO SMOOTH), the pocket clip is one of Matts hand carved and screwed in from the inside of the ti slab (hidden screw), who doesn't like a "fizzed knife", and the slabs are contoured to your fingers. Those things combined with the fact that I can't help but pair it with a Sebenza make this unique knife a cool buy. The one thing that the Seb definitely has it beat on is the stop bar though. The stop bar on the Seb is much beefier! Anyone that's a Seb fan would love Matts knives! It's nice to have another knife to carry other than my Large and Small sebs that I consider to be equal to their quality.

That Crawford looks substantial, real nice choice..

I am a huge fan of Matt Cucchiara's knives!! I myself am lucky to own one. I have one of his Mini Scrapper "Gecko" knife.

I've seen some pics of those fizzed sebbies and they are definately sweet! I would say you done good! The Crawford will indeed be a hefty piece but I lean towards those anyway. The Sebenza is the only "lightweight" folder I have.

Two "taste" issues with Matt's knives keep me from them:

1) Hate recurves, all his knives have them.
2) Knives are heavier then I prefer to carry.

Otherwise we did a passaround with one of this knives. I liked the other issues with it.

I really must meet this fellow -- consistent with my high-end purchase policy, I've got to meet Matt before I buy one of his knives. From everything I've heard, sounds like I'd like his work.

DaveH: I understand not liking the recurve, they're a bitch to sharpen. I have the mini scrapper (kinda 1/2 between the small and large sebs) and it's a very light knife. You'd be pretty surprised at how light it is. Can't help ya on the recurve part though. You're right, that's definitely a taste thing. I like them because of the added cutting legnth, but hate touching up the blade when it starts to drag.

Fooj: If you like sebs, and like customs.......you'd most defintely like Matt's work. Unless you're in the same boat as Dave and don't care for recurves that is......

My Mini Scraper is a VERY light knife.

Fooj: I think you WILL really like his work. I hope to meet him some day. I love his work.
