Expanding on PiterM's awesome backspacer, I want wondering if this would be possible. See non-CAD, napkin at the restaurant drawing below!

Just extends over the back of the handle to cover blade edge when dropped in pocket. I figure some tension could just hold the extension down (like the pressure of a pocket clip, and there could be a "tongue and groove" type set up to keep it rigid side to side.

I would love this for a small seb, clipless to drop in pocket. Is this doable at all? Has something like this been done?

Thanks.

I too would like to see some kind of full backspacer. I carry loose in the pocket and keys/lint/coins get stuck in there all the time and dull my blade. BarryH, STR, PiterM?

I like it. I wouldn't mind having one for my small. The addition would aid in grip by filling the hand, a little.

You could sit the spacer on the stop pin and keep it flush with the handle, I do that with alot of the Emerson I work on.
I like the idea of the bulging back and it does look like it would be a real nice fit in the hand,
I think you might need to find a milling machine wizard for that one though :p:thumbup:

There is also ferrk and maybe Dave22. Both are awesome at working with Titanium and such

It does look like the tolerances would have to be exact! I was just wondering if anyone had ever done anything like this, so we'll wait and see.

That'd be EXTREMELY hard to make. I'm not able to make it, sorry. I carve my Ti parts with hand controlled tools and for that you'd need nice CNC machine I guess and really good operator behind it.

I figured my crude sketch was an impossibility, but maybe would spark creative ideas for a backspacer. The issue is really how close the blade edge is to the top of the Seb, making a standard backspacer very difficult to make.

Thanks for the reply!
