I just got my first sebenza with inlayed scales(micarta) and noticed somthing that isn't on my plain sebenzas !! It has 2 grooves milled into the back scale under the clip!! Was thus an early 21 change that has been discontinued or does crk do this to only sebsenzas with inlays?

Kinda what I thought they are there to help with the clip. my guess is they are only on models with inlayed scales as the knife is thicker and could cause pants to bind up more... Just a guess though!

It's there to visually separate the polished portion of the scale from the blasted lockbar section. It's not required in your case, but still...

It makes sense.
My lockbar has no grooves, and the clip ended up wearing away at the section where the clip comes in contact with the lockbar.

they could cut groves into various knives to adjust spring tension in the lock bar. my umnum has similar grooves but on the opposite side of the lock bar (blade side). these are quite deep.

this sounds the most plausible. milling the lockbar simply to adjust how the pocket clip carries seems drastic.

would love to hear from CRK on this since the answer seems to be something of a mystery around here ;)

It's a true saying that you live and learn :D

I've just checked my knives. With my hands up, I admit that I though they were all the same. But no.

They all have these two little grooves and most are the same depth and size. That is, except for two.

1. The first has grooves which are so faint that I couldn't see them at first.
2. This is weird - The other knife has three grooves.

I don't know what the hell they're for!
