Hey gang,

I am familiar with the one piece line but know little about Sebenzas. A guy wants to sell me a Sebenza and sent me these pics.

http://sebenza.shutterfly.com/

The pics are lousy but is there anything that screams fake about this knife? CRK says they cant be sure.

Thanks

I can't help you with that knifes authenticity but I will say that with the price of CRKs, Randalls and other high end knives I only buy from reputable dealers. The few bucks you save just isn't worth it when you're taking a chance on being ripped off. IMHO

It is likely real but be careful. A birthday card and box would help a lot in confidence.

No box or birthday card. Owner got it from friend and says he know it is real. Are there fakes out there that are nearly perfect?

That's something else I don't understand. Why would someone not keep boxes and birthday cards? I throw everything away yet somehow manage to hold onto mine.

Things do get lost, not everybody is a collector or thinks about reselling at some point.

Why not insist on a 3 day inspection period, like many online firearms dealers offer. That way you have some recourse if it's a fake or damaged. Does the seller have any feedback you can look at? I like to at least buy from sellers with positive feedback from other customers.

Most fake sebenzas are the (model) 21. That is a regular small sebenza which looks authentic to me.

Good luck.

I keep the box and papers with mine, if only for the reason that's where I store my knives, in the box as it came to me, when I'm not using them.

There are plenty of good deals from honest people here that you don't have to snag that one up. Unless your getting a crazy good deal on it.

If you decide to sell it down the road it'll be tough without the docs and such.

Okay so I went and got the knife and there are updated pictures on the link that shows what I got. Please give me your opinions! Thanks

So far, the fakes I've seen are:

Very poor quality Large 21: Sanreuu or whatever type. These are the most common ones on ebay.
Reasonable quality Large 21: Looks decent in pictures, but if you handle one, you'd totally know the difference.
Scary quality Large Regular: Difficult to tell the difference from pictures, still hard to tell in person just from looking at it until you open and close it.

I haven't seen fakes of the smalls at all around the net yet. Also, this one seems to have a reasonably even pattern of wear on the knife and lanyard which would likely date it's manufacture to before when the good fakes started appearing.

At first glance it looks real to me.
Pics when you get it and perhaps we can give it a better once over.
Oh, there should be a date stamp inside the scales A 05 or something like that stamped on the titanium.

Lisantica, there are pics of the knife up now. There is a date code of C02 on the scales. I'm pretty positive it is real now that I have it. The best part is that I got it for less than a 1/3 of what used Sebenzas are selling for but I had to move on it quick.
