Does anybody use their sebenza in the woods? If i carry a folder its usually my cabelas griptilian. Just wondering if anybody carries and uses a sebenza in the woods.

I bring mine to the woods but it is basically pocket jewelry as hiking or whatever I almost NEVER need a knife.

However I did use my sebenza to slice open my subway sandwich...

I use mine in woods when needed. Clearing trails, cutting small stuff out the way, even bigger stuff if I didn't bring something larger. Cutting rope, field dressing, digging in dirt. Well, pretty much doing anything I need to do lol.

I have a small regular that I've taken out several times. It's a very capable blade despite its smaller size. It makes a heck of a fuzz stick too. :)

I use my various sebenzas for everything. This year, I used one to field dress the two does that I got this hunting season. Performed flawlessly, just as one would expect.

I carry a Sebenza wherever I go( other than Federal buildings and airports, cause I like my freedom ), I've taken one hunting, camping, hiking, etc since the first day I put one in my pocket.

Blackend here on the forum got me into CRK's, I was more of a Benchmade and Microtech guy before he cursed me with this CRK addiction- but I'm glad he did ;)
At first I had trouble spending $350-1K on a knife when I thought that $150 was high but after I had one for a few days it went into my pocket and one CRK or another has been my edc since. A small Insingo saved me from hypothermia on a hunting trip once and I always carry one of my CRK folders with me into the woods. I do rely on a fixed blade, although there are many of them in my collection a CRK Nyala is now my blade of choice.

You'd of course be better served in the woods by a fixed blade but a Sebenza is a much more capable knife than it's given credit for.

I have a large regular or large insingo in my pocket 100% of the time. most of the time it backs up a fixed blade, but also does a lot a utility work as well. I wouldn't be afraid of relying on the sebenza to be the primary knife for an outdoor experience.

Yeah I bring my fixed but I could never leave the Sebenza at home or in the car. I feel naked without it.

I have found the Sebenza and Umnumzaan to be great woods knives when complimenting a larger fixed blade or axe/hawk. I like to practice fire lighting, carving, shelter building and the like when I go out and find them to be perfectly useable knives. If I was only to take one knife with me it would not be a folder though. :)

What he said

I carry a Maxpedition Fatboy when I go out for a day hike with a fixed blade attached to it and my folder, where it always goes, in my front right pocket. The fixed blade does the dirty work while my folder stays clean for whatever I can think of doing :o

I've used my Sebenza in the woods and in the past used an Umnumzaan. Skin deer, cut limbs, cut ropes, pick out splinters. I killed a pig a few weeks ago and decided the fixed blade would be a better option, although I'm sure the Sebenza would have done fine.

I use 'em all. When I hit the trail, I always have my trusty Gransfors Bruks Hand Axe. Sucker shaves and does 75% of chores. A fixed for those messy tasks & a good folder of choice for all else.

Nice selection Steve. Really like that small Case folder. I am curious if you find you baton wood with that small axe, or mainly swing it?

Thanks for the compliments. The axes is short so not chopping too many trees down, but it indeed makes a great piece for batoning. The small GB axes also come sharper than many if not most knives.

I carry and use my small Sebbie wherever I am. For me the woods mean fishing so it probably cuts more line and cleans more fish than anything else.

I have literally beat my small insingo sebby to death and it's still perfect, just has a bit more character. I on the other hand think it's great for the woods or a survival situation. It will stay sharp, it's very easy to takedown with just one tool, it's very simple to assemble, it has a great warranty, a lanyard will come in handy for many uses, and it light and a great carry.

A fixed knife would be better for certain tasks but if your day tripping or camping a sebenza will hold up. When head into the bush I take my xm-18 only because I don't want to lose my sebenza insingo. I don't care about price, you can't put a price on your absolute favorite knife. It is my first knife and will be handed down to one of my twins........wait now I need to get another so they don't fight over it

No pictures, but the my small micarta insingo comes with me everywhere and does everything I ask of it.
Wouldn't substitute any other folder in it's place.
