Sorry for noob question.
I‘ve noticed that some sebenza’s lanyard is tied through scales while some has tie-bar.
Tie-bar seemd to offer clean look when lanyard is used.
Is tie-bar a new feature or option?

That's a good question. I know that the early Sebenzas have tie through. Not sure when the tie-bar came into existence.
Seems to me that it's been a new offering within the past year or two.
Hopefully someone will chime in.

I dont like the lanyard pin, so I just removed it and tied it through the scales like my old Regular. It does, however give the knife a certain type of cleanliness when used (but that is not why I have a Seb)

I took the tie bar out of my large Insingo and tied the lanyard right through the scales (where the tie bar would be). The reason being that with the tie bar installed the lanyard would rotate around and was being cut by the tip of the blade. With the lanyard tied through the scales it doesn't come in contact with the blade.

I'm still on the fence about which way i like better. The tie bar on some knives, does make a rattle sound that aggravates me.

I have not noticed a rattle yet. However, I think I would find a rattle to be comforting in an I-am-still-here sort of way.

Lanyard Question- I have noticed on the LG 21 that if you unite the lanyard the pin will come out of the handle. On the SM 21 however if you untie the lanyard the pin still remains wedged between the scales. Is this how its suppose to be?

Yep. The large pin is just a straight pin with a hole. The lanyard keeps it in the place. Without the lanyard, the pin will just fall through the hole. The small is actually slotted to stay in the knife regardless of the lanyard.

I'm sure there is a picture of this somewhere online...

Thanks for the reply, I have them both and that's what I was thinking. With the SM 21 I can here the pin rattle ever so slightly but I can tell it doesn't want to come out like the Large.

The older sebenzas had the tie-through lanyard. Recently in the last couple of years, CRK went to the lanyard post. The first design, it would fall out if you removed the lanyard from the knife ( and lanyard post ). With the new design, you can remove the lanyard ( from the post ) and it will stay in as its machined on the ends. It fills it in nicely, even with the lanyard removed. Me, I just prefer the old tie-through, that way I dont have to take the sebenza apart if I wanna install or remove it. But I am a large regular sebenza guy, so stock they came with the tie-though which makes me happy.....:D

I really think it gives the knife a nice, clean look. The blue of the pin looks really nice set into the face of the handles too.

I just got a new small Sebenza 21 in the mail today. I untied the lanyard and the pin stays in place. It doesn't rattle at all, but if it starts to in the future I will definitely have to remove it. I agree with Darth Detori, the blue lanyard pin is a nice look and compliments the thumb lug and spacer.
