Sebenza Large 21 – does it lock right?

Hey guys,

so I was just playing with my sebenza to get it smoother.
It's brand new and it came sticky as fudge ;-)

Now, while I was opening and closing it, I realize that the locking bar seems to only contact the blade at a very small portion.

Is that normal? Is that a problem?
I used the neat trick from jdavis to get the lockup a little earlier. But can it change the locking bar in such a manor that it creates an angle?

What do you guys think.

I can't see the pictures right now, but for reading purposes using the advance search feature search for Bob Terzuola and my user name. I did an extensive post on geometry etc of a framelock. (I am on my phone or I would have linked the post)

I can't see the locking bar in the photo you posted, or have I misunderstood something?

Normal. Don't need much are of contact to lock up solid in the way you are seeing it. Mine is a little more than that. Is it solid? If you are unsure, send it in. They'll check it out and make it right if it's not.

Thank you guys for your answers, first of all.

@Banksy, It is impossible to take a photo from the closed lockbar. Tried it from all angles but it is just too small. So I thought I just show a picture of the wear it creates on the "back of the blade" where it locks.
To me, it looks really unusual. As said: it looks like only the edge of the blade would connect with the blade.

@SVTFreak: Thanks man. I would send it in (in fact, that is what Heather asked me to do too) but I live in Europe and I would wait FOREVER to get it back. So I wanted to have you guys' oppinions first.

Sounds like you have nice early lock up and you're good to go.
I have a knife that locks up at 30% and it's lovely lol.

Thanks guys.

Well, it's not about being early, it's more that I'm afraid it is crooked. In my understanding the lock should touch the blade on the full surfice, right? And not just the corner … dunno … at this point I just might go with what jwolf90 said and leave it alone till s.t. happens.
