Sebenza: Large or Small?

I think I finally decided what its gonna be this year and its gonna be another Sebbie. I own two large classics without belt clip due to their age. I want one with the newer profile and clip but am not sure whether to go big or small. EDC laws in the places I frequent are not clear on length but I still feel a smaller blade would legally be favorable. Nevertheless I dont want to be dissatisfied with the blade and handle size on my 300$ EDC investement. I have never handled the newer Sebenzas so would like to know how they feel. Also, to those in law enforcement, do you feel the large sebenza is menacingly large, or no?

I say go large as the small is just too small for me. The 3.5" blade of the large model is not a threatening blade unless you use it in that manner. The blade is a clip point with a sharp point and very useful as an all-around daily user. The new Classics with the inlays are a sight to behold. For the extra cost they are worth it ,especially the wood inlays. As to the feel............I understand the older models of the Sebenza were thicker than the newer ones. The newer ones with the wood inlays are probably around the same thickness as the older models.

The new Classic Sebenza with wood inlays is my favorite, the security for griping is much improved. Blade profile is more pointed than the regular models especially in the large.

I have the large and small Classic wood inlays, with small for EDC in pouch (less clip) and large in CRK belt sheath (less clip) for weekends.

I tried to like the small, but the handle is too short for me. I just got my large lefty in S30V, and man what a sharp knife. The profile on this one is nice and pointy. I'm saving for the same knife, right handed. Leo G.

My hand required a large Seb for thumbing it open fast. If your hands are small or don't need a quick open, then the small will be fine. When I had a small, it felt like a precision instrument when opening it, especially with the S30V blade, sort of like a tuning fork. Nice feel. Hard to describe. But the large is where I needed to be.

I like the small myself. As far as laws go, I wouldnt mess with them...go for what's safe. The small is just as strong as the large with just a smaller package.

Now that the Passaround Sebenza has left my hands,(it's on its way Bad Guy), I can't see why you would want to carry a smaller one, the big Classic is a lotta knife in a smaller than you'd expect frame.

Carrying the Sebenza was as comfortable as my BM AFCK,(my current standard for EDC comparison).

If I lived in a rural area, I'd go with the large. Because I live in a big city, I bought the small and am very happy with it. I feel more comfortable taking it out and using it public because it's smaller. I can always carry a larger folder in another pocket in case I need something bigger.

I have some Larges, Smalls and Umfaans.

An Umfaan is the one that occupies my pocket most frequently. It does everything I need it to do and it is in "stealth" mode all the time.

The large is just too big, unless you have monster hands and pockets.

I use the leather pouches available from Chris instead of the clip as well. Wrecking blue jeans is one thing, but trashing the pockets on suit pants or dress slacks is just too expensive for me.
