Sebenza lock over-engaged?

Just got this large 21 and it has 0 bladeplay in either direction but the only part I'm questioning is the lockbar. Is it covering too much? It looks like about 90% or a bit more. It also feels a little too easy to disengage the lock compared to my small regular sebenza model.

It looks a bit much for a new knife. I have a 10 year old sebenza that looks about the same, but that lock isn't easy to disengage at all, no blade play either. I emailed CRK about it with a pic this week, and they said they can only judge it by actually holding and seeing it, so it's going back there for 'warranty repairs' (you only pay for shipping), some decent sharpening and care can't hurt after 10+ years.
Cleaning the knife resets the lock, in my case to about 50% but here that only lasts for a few openings.

Yeah I disassembled, cleaned, and put it back together but it's still the same. Oh well, it only costs $20 for the round trip so I guess I'm mailing it out tomorrow. Very strange because the lockbar feels sloppy and weak yet there is no bladeplay whatsoever.

Looks to me like it's over quite a bit, IMO it shouldn't be that far over unless the titanium had been worn down over a decade of use like CarlHeinz's sebby.

what the.. I thought you sold your last Large-21 because it was too big to carry or something?

I've got a sebenza with the same deal, if the lock is tight with no play and it's easy to disengage wouldn't that be a benefit though?

My preference is to have the lock engagement more like 50%.

If you want to get an idea of the relationship between engagement and thickness of the stop bushing, cut a thin strip of electrical or masking tape, and stick it on the but of the blade tang with the knife closed. Then open the knife, allowing the tape to rest between the tang and the bushing.

Got another one because there is a 30% off deal on ebay right now. Couldn't help it.

Also after handling a spyderco military the large seb feels tiny in my hands now :)

E: Anyway i did call CRK and they said they want to take a look at it so I guess I'll be without it for a while. I have NO knife right now at all.

Mine is the same.....in fact if I squeeze it, it'll will go all the way over to the other side. Makes for a real secure lock up!

The blades on Chris' knives are NOT scalloped, so I'm not sure what is to stop the arm from eventually going all the way over. I'm also not real sure what harm there is....as long as the lock up is solid, all is good.....Right?

Wow, just got a call from Chris Reeve himself saying repairs are done and apologized. Extremely fast and friendly service!
