I am a new owner and I am not ready to disassemble my Sebenza yet. Is it possible to adequately lube the pivot screw and bushings with flourinated grease without taking the knife apart?

First off.......welcome to the land of the Sebenzanistas!!
Now, as to your question.......in a word....no.
You'll not fully appreciate what you've bought until you experience, firsthand, the excellent fit and finish of the Sebenza as revealed in the disassembly / reassembly "ritual"! Follow the excellent tutorial from CRK's own forum here and soon you too will "see the light"!
Besides.....the tolerances are way too tight to allow the grease to reach the proper points and not everything in there gets slathered with lube!!

Go ahead and take it apart. That is the best feature of a Sebenza.I can't descibe the feeling of doing it the first time.
BTW I belive Militec-1 makes it slicker.

I agree, you really should take it apart. Your appreciation level for the knife will jump a couple of notches.

Take it apart -- it's simple if you follow the excellent directions on the sticky in this forum.

I agree with U812 -- Miltec results in a smoother and easier action.

To clean it properly, you need to take it apart and wipe of the washers, bushings, etc. There are only a few pieces to it. Benchmade has that new Blue Lube and Blue Lube cleaner. The cleaner is no big deal. You can do the same with WD-40, but I love the Blue Lube. Just as slick as the Militec-1 without the blow dryer in my opinion.

Disassembling and cleaning it out will allow you to get intimate with your Sebby!

To all that replied. Thanks for the info. I have already copied the instructions for cleaning and lubing. Looks like I'm in for an adventure. At least if I get in trouble, I know where to come for help!

Just a thought or 2 to share:

Don't fear damaging anything if you take your time and use the right size tools.

Get at least one bowl and put all the parts in it as they come apart.

When anything comes apart, pay close attention to the moment. No springs will fly in your face or anything (there are no springs), but it helps to focus on the moment of separation.

Take your time.

Go by the CRK directions slowly.

Most errors probably occur when reassembling the blade, pivot bearing, washers into the frame.

Again, follow the directions and be firm but not forceful. Take time to study the mechanics (or relationship of the parts to each other) of the pivot bearing, washers, and blade; and notice that if the pivot bearing stays in proper position, the washers (on each side) cannot slide out of position.

Notice how the frame standoff spacers do what they do before you take them completely apart...go slow.

Most importantly, don't force or hurry, and know that you can always get it back together properly even if you have to baggy everything and send it to CRK. They are great folks there.

If you clean everything, and let it dry, and lube it according to the directions (a little goes a long way, and militec or CRK lube is great) and take your time and reassemble it yourself, you will have a new and great experience with your Sebenza that can only come from appreciating how your CRK bladetool was made because you can disassemble and reassemble and know exactly what is happening everytime you open and close it, and use it and love it. They are incredible knifetools.

Know it, use it, enjoy it. Nothing else is like it. :)
