In the October issue of Blade Magazine, the editors came up with the short list of Most Influential Modern Folders. These include the Buck 110, the Ron Lake Tab-Lock Interframe, the Spyderco Mariner, the Michael Walker LinerLock, Gerber LST, and our favorite Sebenza.

Some exerpts: "The Chris Reeve Sebenza makes the list of most influential folders because many consider it simply one of the best executed and most solidly built folders of all time. The Integral Lock...is quickly becoming one of the more emulated locks in both the handmade and factory knife industries...(and) has raised factory folders to new heights."

What is most interesting are the comments from the other makers concerning Chris' knives:

From maker Ron Lake (whose custom knives set the standard for ultra precision and quality and sell for $4000+): "The handle material, the titanium he's using, the blade, the whole package is quality. To me, if you look at it as a semiproduction knife and consider its quality, it is as good or better than a handmade knife. You don't have to look with a magnifying glass to see that. It's quite apparent that the Sebenza is a quality knife."

From Spyderco's Sal Glesser: "...Reeve pays particular attention to detail. Even the thumb stud is machined and you can see the degree of quality in every part. Chris is very steel conscious and helped to re-introduce BG-42 to the marketplace."

From Michael Walker: "I think Chris has shown that the gap between [handmade and production knives] could be bridged and that quality could be done in numbers. The Sebenza is a big, heavy-duty knife which demonstrates the cross between heavy-duty and handmade quality. That's why it stands the test of time."

From Benchmade's Les De Asis: "Chris' knives have very consistent quality. He sweats the details and is buildig to precision fit and finish. He probably builds a better knife than most custom [makers] because the equiment he uses provides a competitive advantage."

Congratulations to Chris and crew on being recognized by the industry and your peers for your accomplishments in advancing the art and science of knifemaking!

Yes, and CRK deserves all of the applause they receive. I truly admire companies that can so clearly set themselves apart from their competition in any industry, let alone one as competitive as knives.

I particularly enjoyed the comments by Les De Asis ...

"Chris' knives have very consistent quality......"

"He sweats the details and is building to precision fit and finish....."

That one made me LOL ;) :D

Congrat's to the CRK gang, you all deserve it!

All those comments were important to me. Guess I'd give the nod to Ron Lake's comment about the quality being better than many customs. I know Sebbie owners used to say that, and I have been extremely impressed by the quality of my Sebenza, but it means a lot to hear a custom maker reknowned for his fit and finish to say what he did.
