Sebenza not smooth at one section

So this is my first time posting here, so I'm not sure if this is the right place to post it, but here it goes. I recently just got myself a brand spanking new Sebenza 21, and so far, I'm pretty happy about it. But one thing I noticed about it is that when the blade is opened halfway through, the action goes from buttery smooth to kind of a rough feeling. The rough feeling is not very big, but it's big enough that it's just barely noticeable when you're opening it. The rough feeling also starts at about 50% opened and lasts until about 70%. I was wondering if this feeling would go away after playing around with it a bit more or if I should do something to get rid of the rough feeling.

It will smooth out, no worries. The detent will begin to wear a track and it will be buttery smooth after.

I would wash it in warm soapy water, rinse the warm soapy water out with purified water, spray the purified water out with canned air, then apply Teflon Lube (supplied by Chris Reeve in the Sebenza box) at the pivot, work the lube into the pivot by opening and closing the blade a few times, and see how it feels then.

Exactly what my thoughts are. The ceramic detent ball is just making its path on the tang. It'll get there and when it does, it'll be smooth as glass.

Congrats on your Sebenza! May it last you many great years!!

Agreed that the track will form with use. Depending on the age of the knife, I've had one sit for a year on the shelf when I bought it. I wound up taking it apart, cleaning it and putting new grease. The difference was night and day on the smoothness.

Yeah I'll probably be playing around with my Sebenza for a while then because according to the certificate, my Sebenza was made only about a week ago.

Might be a little grit in the detent path. A Cleaning may be in order.
