OK, I admit it. Having never seen a Sebenza in person, I could not understand how a folder could sell for 300 bucks. In my area no knife shop would dare stock sone because it would be there forever. However, today I went to a gun and knife show in Paducah, KY, and of all the knives there one dealer had 1 small Sebenza. He was gratious enough to let me handle it even though I told him I couldn't afford one right now, and I must admit, now I can see why you would pay that much for a pocket knife.

It is quite possibly the best built folder I have ever seen!

Do yourself a favor and get one. They get better with use. The more you use it, the more you'll like it.

I thought the same way until I handled them too. Now I have two, and I have to agree with Paul. Just do it.

Paul is right on. They get better and even smoother as you use them. They are well worth the $$. Certainly not cheap, but a multi-life investment.

I carry my Sebenza daily, and it does get better and better as you use it. Use is the only thing that truly brings out the best in a Sebenza. I've never had a problem with my Seb, and have never regretted the purchase.

I've had mine going on a year, never had it apart. My maintenance has been hosing the pivot with WD (to clean out the grease, blood, dirt or other goo that has accumulated), blowing it dry and adding a bit of lube.

WARNING: Do not try this at home! (You may feel the need to throw away all your other production knives!)

I can open the knife and hold it, blade horizontal with the edge facing the ground, release the lock...and the blade swings to vertical. I've tried this with every knife I could get my hands on and none would do it. Maybe the custom I have on order will, I hope. :)

This is not a knife that has been flicked, has a loose pivot or worn washers...this is great design and well executed workmanship.

I knew that I was buying a quality knife (thanks to the great folks here at BF), this one exceeded my expectations.

The slabs are starting to look good, all scratched up and funky :), but the blade looks like brand new.

Buy one.

The small Sebenza is the best knife ever built... Until you get your hands on a large one... I like those even better. Same build actually, just more bang for the buck.

BlackRazor... Didn't you send that knife back yet? What has CRK said to you?

I too never thought i would pay that much for a knife after months of reading about the Sebenzas i finally caved in and orderd one a lefty classic engraved with my name.. i never handled or even seen one except for net pic's i put my faith in the formites and said ****it Well from the time i opened the package untill now 3 months latter !! it has never left my side.. Tim **** that took like an hour to type

TLC-

Just mention it to CRK when you order, or order one from a dealer and send it back to the factory. They'll machine a hole in the other side of the handle and add another thumbstud, for about $20 or so.

It's not just the thumbstud. CRK makes a fully left-handed Sebenza. The locking bar is on the "other side" as well.

You sure about that? The mod includes cutting a thumb area into the other side of the locking bar - but i've never seen a fully lefty sebenza. I'd love to see a pic. I'm a solid lefty - but I can't imagine using a 'reverse' sebby. The lefty mod works just fine for me!

Yes, Chris Reeve makes Left Handed knives.

Just like the pic's above a true lefty Seb i orderd mine from Chris Reeve direct it takes a month or so if there is none in stock just moing the thumb stud really doesn't do much for a lefty it will just get ya fustrated and you can't enjoy the knife the way it was ment to

The Sebenza is, IMO, one of the most versatile designs to be had. CRK's quality is very well known and respected.
The problems Black Razor is having are unusual. They are not normal for the Sebenza.

BR, have you heard back from CRK yet?

I dunno about that. I own a drawerfull of Sebenzas, all righties with the lefty modification. I'm a hardcore lefty, and frankly I can open and close these equally well with either hand. Matter of fact, as I look at mine and imagine closing it the other way, it would seem odd...

Just my $.02, since nobody asked for it... ;)

Salmonella, well you're the one in one thousand.

If you're Left Handed; be sure to get a Left Handed Sebenza. :)
