Has anybody else tried this yet? I just did the scotch brite finish on my diamond plate small sebenza tonight and the new finish (or lack of) seems so rugged I decided to make it my key chain knife.

The moment I saw this picture I almost pissed. Dude!!! Are you insane!!! A $500+ knife on a GD keychain??? To you that might not be expensive but if that knife was mine I would give it its own GD bed to sit on so that nothing would happen to it...

Where did you buy that knife in Ca?
I have looked all over for the diamond plate
I used to do the same thing with a different knife

Dude.... I listed that knife on the exchange (for sale AND trade section), also on ebay and I got a bunch of people trying to lowball me offering to pay $300. So I got irritated and just scotch brited the knife and put it on my keychain. I figured if it's only worth $300 on the used market I would rather use the heck out of it and just sell it dirt cheap later. You can find the diamond plate available everywhere, just google it and a bunch will pop up.

I say it's pretty cool. The fob likely costs more than the Sebenza anyways. My wife got quoted "at least" $500 plus a new key from Germany for a new one for our SUV.

Now I feel kind of guilty, but I figured it's no different from those who puts their knives in their pockets along with the keys and coins.

Justin: I had no idea those key fobs are so expensive  I never had to get one replaced and I hope I never have to. :D

Doesn't the Scotch Brite treatment make it less likely to show scratches anyway?
I was going to try to trade for that sucker and do exactly that to it. Well, the Scotch Brite, anyway. Probably not the keychain thing... :)

I would say by doing that, you've probably significantly increased your chances of not losing your knife.:) Oh, nice job on the scotchbright too.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Steel - You're definitely right about that. I actually went out to run some quick errands today in basketball shorts and the knife along with the keys felt really comfortable. I normally would have never carried a knife when I went out with b-ball shorts because of how easily it slips out.

Really? I wear bball shorts like its my job and you better believe there's always a Seb on me and I've never had one slip a bit.

At any rate, I still think that's the coolest damn keychain known to man. Great idea:thumbup:

Thank you sir! The other thing I like about it is that now I can take it out and use it anywhere without anybody even batting an eye since there are keys attached to it :D

Hey, Logical, that makes it REALLY interesting. The public doesn't even notice it. I'm thinking of putting my Glock on a key-chain to check it out.
