I must have a large Chris Reeve Sebenza! I'm having trouble deciding on the particulars because I can't hande the knife before I buy it. I don't know if I want a regular or a classic. I like the pointy shape of the classic blade but think I prefer the handle of the regular. If I get a regular should I get the S30V blade or see if Chris Reeve has any flat BG42 blades left? Because I live in Canada should I buy from Chris Reeve (U.S.A.) or fron True North Knives (Canada)? I would really appreciate any opinions or advice. I enjoy reading your forum but this is my first post. Thanks for all the information I've read in the past!

Welcome to the forums!

Your Sabenza purchase will be very satisfactory. As to the steel to get, it's subjective and knowledgeable folks here will probably weigh in as to the advantages of each. I personally would go with the S30V.

Go with your feelings about the handle. As you enjoy the looks of the blade, the hand is where you'll be feeling it as you use the knife. And this is a knife you will use.

True North is a great seller of knives, as is Reeve. I'd say give your fellow Canadian the business. Chris Reeve Knives will back you up regardless where you get it from.

I believe a regular blade with a swedge added resembles the look of a classic blade. However, that is an extra charge and it would probably have to be done custom, meaning a longer wait.

No matter what you buy, you can't go wrong!

BTW, I own a Large Plain Classic 2000 Sebenza. :D

I tried to post earlier,so if this is doubled, I apologize

There is a difference in how the two knives feel in my hand. The classic fits my hand much better than the regular. My index finger naturally falls into the half moon shape on the classic. The scalloped cutout on the regular did not feel as comfortable to me. The difference was not subtle. I picked up both knives and put the regular down immediately. Keep in mind that this was my hand. I feel sure that someone else would have a different opinion. YMMV!

Get one or the other. The Sebenza is a wonderful knife. You might want to ask the company that you buy from if they will let you buy two and send one back. I wouldn't just order two knowing that you were going to send one back. If the company will let you order two and send one back, I would go with that company.

I chose my large Sebenza not on blade or handle shape but on "hand feel" To me, it has to feel right and then look right. I was lucky enough to find a dealer that would let me touch before I bought.

Good luck. Either way, you are about to get a great knife.
