I'm going to buy a good edc knife and was curious that how strong is the sebenza lock compared to a balisong?

What i want from knife is a sturdy knife that can take the beating. So what do you recommend a good folder or a good balisong?

Although a Sebenza is a very well built frame lock I believe that the lock on a well built balisong would be better. If the balisong is one of the cheap ones that are made in china, all bets are off. In the USA there are a lot of laws dealing with balisongs and carrying them is about the same as carrying a automatic. What are the laws in Finland?

Well let's not talk about laws.;) But i would like to know is there a balisong without any blade play?

look at Benchmade bali-song. do a search for BM42 ( the current model). It is a very solid knife. You can not go wrong with a BM bali. Hope this helps John

Its jus tso happens there is. But its gonna cost ya. Darrel ralph, ikoma, and korth make balis using something called the IKBS.

That stands for Ikoma Korth Bearing System. In laymans terms they use ball bearings instead of pivot pins. Making for a whole different experinece in bali flipping. Smooth as buttered glass.

The sebenza like wise rocks. Its legal. Its sheeple freindly. And its a joy to use. My suggestion is get both but get the sebbie first. Carry it, use it. And then get the bali if you still want one. The frame lock is more than stable enough. And what the bali guys dont tell you is that in order for balis to be thin and light enough the blade is thinner than most blades of the given length. It doesnt matter how strong the lock is if the blade cant take it.

Get a SEBBIE, than get a korth. You wont regret either purchases.

That is like discussing apple and bananas. I don't have any interest in Balis, but if I did, I would get either DDR or a Jens Anso Bali. The Sebenza is a fantastic knife, and one of my personal favorites!!

A balisong "lock" might be stronger, but a Sebenza is a much stronger overall knife (compared to a typical high-end balisong).

I would count on a balisong pivot or blade breaking before anything on a Sebenza (lock slippage included) would break.

Well i have a one balisong already. It's a pandayan balisong so maybe i'll try the sebenza.
