Sebenza or KFF

Okay hardcore folder collectors, who's got the edge overall in terms of value and use?

The Kasper seems to be very use specific; A Fighting Folder indeed. Sebenza means “work”, and it does just that. The small Sebenza is the best all around utility knife made; strong, tough and reliable. The KFF is still a liner lock, so when all is said and done it is not going to be as reliable a knife.

I have both and wouldn't part with either. Each has its own purpose and the workmanship is great on both models.

The Crawford KFF handle really locks your hand into place and offers the most finger protection I have seen in a folder. It just feels great. It also has the best liner lock I have encountered so far. I know liner locks can fail, but I feel secure about this model. The drawback is that it is large. For carrying purposes this is a small problem, but the biggest drawback to the size is the reaction it can bring from others. This knife looks very serious.

The Sebenza has a one of the best locks in the business and a very good multipurpose blade. This knife also is easier to carry because of its size and looks more normal to the average person. Because of this, I find myself using it more often.

I think you can't go wrong with either. It's a matter of what feature you value more for your circumstances.

Carl M said it well. I also have a Crawford KFF and a large Sebenza. They are apples and oranges. The KFF is a very solid well made knife as is the Sebenza. However, the KFF is a "scary" large knife and not well suited for daily carry. If you want excitement, throw the KFF into the basket at the courthouse entrance. Both are great knives but were designed for different uses.

Why not get both!?

My KFF is all titanium, and it's wearing very nicely, thank you. If a BG is coming to get me, then that's the folder I want in my hand.

If I have to cut slices of cheese, peel an apple, cut open some boxes and some twine...well, that's what a Sebenza's for, right?

So...KFF in your right front pocket for self defense/protection, and the Sebenza in your waistband/pocket for your utility needs. There you go, end of problem! I'll take a knife, any knife, for my fee.

Do the comments re the KFF being scary and too much on the large side for daily peaceable purposes also apply to the miniKaspers?

No, I wouldn't call the mini-Kaspers scary. I had one and it looks like a normal knife with a 3" blade.

I switched over to a full size KFF with a sub 3" blade for places where the blade length of the standard KFF is restricted. I prefer the larger handle of the KFF.

I've got both as well, a large Sebenza and an all titanium KFF. Both are really fantastic knives. I carry the Sebenza every day at work on my belt, a hard-working knife that is always ready to handle any task. The KFF is a little to "serious and intimidating" to be carried at my resort hotel, I save it for after hours and weekend carry. The titanium KFF looks like a Sebenza on steriods! Unreal!
