Hi everyone

First of all, apologies if this falls in the category of Should I get a SEB or NOT.

I live in South Africa and the Seb costs R3000, where a handmade knife costs R1000 and a custom knife would cost me about R2500. I really love the seb but it is a LOT of money. And IF something was to go wrong(which I doubt) I can't send the knife to CRK. (no money/ Student)

Do you feel I should rather keep on saving and buy a seb or invest in a other handmade knife or custom? I have one handmade knife that I edc and it is great and I will use the seb.

Thank you for any advice
Marthinus

Ps. I will buy a Small classic seb with micarta inlays, $400 = R4000

I believe that you wouyld be VERY happy with a Sebenza. I DO warn you, you WILL be spoiled for other knives after getting a Sebbie, AND you WILL compare everything else TO the Sebbie.

My suggestion is to buy a custom for less, make a list of specific issues you like or don't like with it, compare the list to a sebenza (while you're saving), then decide later.

A custom for less, R2500, sounds like a great idea. I take that the wrong way the Sebenza is great. But if you can get a full custom from one of the top makers (assuming their standards are just as high as CRK) for less then go for it.

I have dabbled briefly in custom folders. It's hit or miss with them. I have one that is on par with the Sebenza, and one the is nowhere near it in quality. Surprisingly, the much more known, respected and sought after maker of the two is the one that made the disappointing knife. I don't really have the money to mess around with chance, and it doesn't sound like you do either, so I say get the Sebenza. There's a 99.9% chance that it is going to be perfect as far as quality and usability go.

The Seb is a knife you will just always want untill you get one.

I say get the Seb.
