Well I just sold my BM 710 D2 and CS Recon scout so I can buy a nice folder
or two. I liked the 710 but did not love it, I felt it was a lil too slippery in my hand, but I liked the fact it was super fast to open and locked up tight. Just not my cup o tea. The CS RS I can live without, especially since I have the Trailmaster so it went.

The first knife I decided Im going to buy is an Al Mar sere 2000, which from reading on bladeforums is a classic knife, well built but a been there done that kinda knife for you guys, but I still want one.

The second knife I want is either a CRK large Sebenza with black inlays
or something else.

What I really WANT is a strider smf but I cant buy one so thats out..

Another is the Fox knives military division M1, I like the look of that knife.

Im also thinking the Benchmade bedlam, looks beautiful but I think the blade
might be a little thin for my tastes and not really for edc but its nice.

Any other nice proven folders under $500 with a blade 3-4 inches you guys can recommend?

I have the large Sebbie with micarta. It's a great knife - crazy sharp, fit and finish perfect as you'd expect; a really solid little knife. But I don't ever really carry it, and I mention it here because of what you felt about the 710 being a touch slippery. I don't carry it because there's no guard or even a real swell toward the front and if you ever have a task where you have to press the point into something... or actually "stab" something... and yes there are plenty of non-SD reasons to penetrate rather than slice... there's just no protection whatsoever. Slightest loose-ness of grip = sliced up fingers. It's a great utility knife if you will never do anything but slice, otherwise...

Oh God.. here we go with sharpo lupo flaming Strider again.. can we expect these threads on a weekly basis now?

It's been done to death.

I am picking up another Sebenza myself, along with another Fehrman fixed blade sometime pretty soon. (trying to hold off, but the knife funds at 1,200 now so.......

So yeah, I vote for the Sebenza.

The M4 and Titanium Spyderco Military's are all over ebay and the exchange. I love the g-10 Mille.

Sebenza

edit- just noticed you said "other" than the two you plan to get.
3" to 4" is a wide range with a ton of knives to choose. I like the Spyderco Military(G-10 only), Sage 1 and 2, Caly3, and Para2.

If the Sebbie doesn't do it for you, how about a Devin Thomas damascus Limited Edition Bradley Alias II? $445:

If the OP is so morally opposed to Strider, I wonder if he researches the companies for all products he buys. My guess is he is going on about this old story to present himself as virtuous. Not so much in this post but a previous one. Why even bring it up?

Im past the whole strider thing I dont want to talk about that, already have and I didnt say anything bad on this thread about them so strider fanboys be cool.

Great post and honest. Thats what I was thinking but as I get into knife collecting a bit more I feel I need to have one. I know 1 knife cant do it all
but Id like to get as close as possible. And If/when I do get a large Sebenza It will be a safe queen, I will never jack up a $500 knife when I have others
that cost much much less that are users. Thats just me.

Well unless I have 2 lol

I have better things to do than try to present myself to a bunch of knife nuts on a knife forum as being virtuous. And yes before I buy any knife or gun I try and learn as much about it as I can, nothing wrong with that.

I like the look of the strider as well, but I probably wont buy one because Im not a hardcore enough combat individual.

But take a look at the new Zero Tolerance 0550 and 0551. Im betting they rival your average strider.
