Sebenza original edge?

Just received my first Sebenza, used.

Very nice knife, a couple nicks on the blade but minor ones, they dont bother one bit since it's a used 2006 Regular and I can send it for refurb or fix it my self probably 10 minutes on a coarse stone to reprofile to V and remove the nicks once the blade dulls but it is something I need to fix since chips can cause weakness in a blade if left untreated (or at least in swords it's a reality not just a "on paper" theory).

Now I doubt it's a factory grind because the tip it self is not even at all, from what I have seen in Exquisite blade, the blades are hand ground but with guides. One side is grinded unevenly. The edge itself is indeed convex.

i cant really tell from the pictures but i have seen uneven grinds from the factory. if you sent it in for a spa treatment they will fix it for yah.

I recently picked up an older large sebenza in very good condition but it was basically a butter knife. The person that owned it didn't know how to sharpen crap, you couldn't cut yourself with that knife if you tried but once I put it through my 1X42 grinder (220grid and finished off with a leather belt) it became perfect. Everything can be remedied, you can take that sebenza and make it new again if you wish or just re-profile the edge, whatever makes you happy.

Here's some new pictures. Nope I haven't sent it for a spa, but I may once it needs some sharpening.

I'm not too sure what you're asking here, but that knife is clearly used and has clearly been resharpened. The bevel at the point does look a little off but as easy as it was to foul, it is just as easy to fix. The small chip/ding on the edge near the point will be very easy to sharpen out in literally minutes. You could have that blade back to the way you want it in no time at all with out having to send it off to CRK.

Congrats on scoring a nice knife too, now stop looking at it and put it in your pocket and use it. :)

It's already in my pocket and being used.

Figured it wasn't a factory grind just wanted to confirm. The reason I was asking was to see if I could guage the sharpness out of the box. So far I like what I am seeing.
Ill send it in when it needs to.

I've got a small 21 s35 that came with an uneven bevel, it was sharp though so I haven't been bothered by it. In 20 years or so the blade will have been sharpened enough that no one else will notice :D

I'd just say use it, it will perform well and when it gets dull, you can sharpen it or send it in to get sharpened. I'm not sure if it matters either way if it still has a factory edge.
