Hello Everyone, I recently recieved a large wood inlay(which incidently is gorgeous) and got the dark brown small leather pocket slip case with it. I like these things because you can put these fine knives in your pocket without worrying that the coins or car keys will scratch it up or mess up the wood finish.
What I noticed with the brand new one is that it has the same dimensions, except for the width. It is a little wider than the previous ones. This is no problem except that with the extra width comes a loser fit. This allows the possibility of foriegn matter to work its way more easily into the inside and possibly cause scratchs or blems to the finish of the wood or metal while it is inside your pocket. Excellent quality and great leather though. Just a thought. Cya, JC

Did you buy this knife to use or to coddle???

Tools only get better with age. Ever hear of character? (You do drive your car [how much did you pay for it?] on roads that haven't been swept and washed before you drive on them...?) How much does that car cost you every day over its life time????

For a meager DOLLAR A DAY, you can use the heck out of your fine wood inlay Sebenza, and throw it away in less than two years at a profit!! or you could sell it on BFC... or send it back to CRK....

If that doesn't make you feel any better, sell the knife and buy a "user"...

You might want to get a soft case with a flap closure to keep the nasties out. I have a small wood inlay Sebenza and carry it in a canted sheath that works well, but it's not for everyone. I had picked up some velure sheaths that have a velcro closure and works well.

But as Michael pointed out, it's intended to be used, not abused but truly used, so not to worry....

actually I agree 100%
I figured out that carrying my Terzuola for the last 14 months cost me $1.13 a day. Well worth it and it works for any finely made knife.

Happy Holidays All!

Merry Christmas all you Knife Nuts...

Play Santa to yourself this season! Buy whatever knife that you think that you NEED!

Forget about the price!!!

Drink less soda or coffee every day, AND enjoy the hech out of your new tool!!!! You can own the best CRK knife for pocket change!!!! If you look at one single year of your life, and find the investment to be too much, then you should buy yourself a POS for Christmas...

(And don't think that Santa will be bringing you anything better either!!!)

And when you have enough Sebenzas, look towards the TNT>>>>

Isn't it a little cumbersome to take the knife out of your pocket and then out of the sheath in order to deploy it? If you are going to carry this knife you will get blemishes no matter how careful you are. I carry my small woody in my front jeans pocket during the day, in my scrubs shirt pocket at work (I work in a hospital) and clipped to my pajamas while I sleep. The polished side directly behind the 2000 is most suseptable to light scratching. I am careful and I don't keep any metal objects in the same pocket. The scratches are very minor and you need to look very closely under bright sunlight to see them. Yes I obsessed over them. I took it apart to clean and lube it and slightly scratched it inside. Put it back together and it is as smooth as silk. I touched up the edge to keep it razor sharp on my sharpmaker. Gary Graley set me straight, the knife is meant to be used! That is a big part of the pleasure of having such a nice knife. When I need to open a box, no problem, a package at the door again, no problem. The knife never fails to impress anyone who holds it. I've been carying for it about a month and a half and I must say it holds up better than the plain or decorated ones. The sooner that you get over the small blemishes the sooner you will be able to fully enjoy this knife! Do it! Slam that baby around. Then you will truly appreciate what a nice knife it is.

Hi Scott Dog, Yes I am guilty of obsessing over such a beautiful creations. Such as the Wood Inlay and the Damascus blade Sebenzas. I am carrying the little gem as we speak and intend to carry it everyday. But I am not letting it out of my sight ever, it's simply too gorgeous. I'm sure that you agree. It's not often in this world that you find such high quality things that are useful and are a total object of art also. Those that have seen this have been totally impressed with the articulate manner of construction and of course the beauty of the knife itself.
I have quite a few of these beautys in different forms and they all show the accurate style of construction and the flawless design.
Yes this one will definetly be on my person most of the time. Cya, JC

JC,

Feeling better after you attacked all those boxes on Christmas??? Hope so....!!!

Jonathan, I was wonderin if ya got it... As far as the sheath goes, I can say only two words.... Gary Graley... I had the canted style made for my small woody and I LOVE it! If I go to send my large wood in for a sheath Maybe he can keep it a while longer and make a few for some others...or someone else might let theirs be used? It is only a matter of time before I get one for the large... If Gary would do it for me... welcome to the world of wood!

I have to say that a Sebenza with out a Gary Graley sheath, is like a knife with out a blade!

If you have one, you have to have the other. Love my Sebbie in my Graley horizontal leather sheath.

To use something without consideration is to have a tool.

To interact with something can lead to a relationship.

To worship something is idolatry.

I would like to think that I have a relationship with the Chris Reeves Knives I have been privileged to own.
