I appologize for the flurry of Newbie CRK questions lately, but I want to make my first Sebenza purchase w/o any regrets.;)

Ok, so I am going to purchase my small Seb in a couple of days, funds are finally available. I have a choice of a small regular with or without the swedge. Is the swedge just a kind of false edge, similar to the BM707 etc?

What are the advantages or disadvantages of having it? Is sharpening harder? Does it weaken the tip?

Thanks in advance.

Well a swedge is a false egde, yes, some people liek to shapen theirs, but you don't see it often with folders sicne the sharp swedge would stick out when closed...Im not sure if ti weekens the edge or not? But to me it looks cool, lol, I always like weehawk styles blades like the Benchmade model 42 balisong....I would imagine in a stabbing application the swedge might have less resistance? But thats onyl a guess...

Just wanted to give you an early congratulations on an upcomming purchase, lol...

I have a swedge on one of my large sebenzas. Great blade shape and the swedge is not sharp. It doesn't weaken the blade what so ever.
