I have the opportunity to finally get a real high end knife and I think I have settled on a Sebenza, mainly for the reputation
but also because of the lack of high end knives in left hand configuration. However, I can't decide on getting the Micarta inlay or
not. I had an Extrema Ratio but I found the all metal handles to be too slick for my taste. How "grippy" is the titanium handles and
Does the Micarta make a big difference or is it mainly for looks?
Thanks in advance for the replies!

I dont think the grip is much more with the micarta but it does imo feel your hand a little better, the bead blast on the plain one does provide better traction then most other finishes though

I can only comment on the plain Ti and b/c its blasted it has a nice grippy texture even when wet but to answer your ? I'm sure the micarta inlays are awesome I've been thinking about a small micarta for edc though I say u won't go wrong either way but if I had the choice I would go with micarta

The Ti is pretty "warm" and grippy by itself; much different than steel or aluminium. I have micarta inlays on my large and small Sebenzas because of the extra width/grip that they offer. With the handle shape of Sebenzas, they just feel better to me if the sides aren't flat and smooth, but it has nothing to do with the Ti being slick... it's not.

The all-titanium Sebenzas are great, I don't find them "slippery" at all. The handle is designed well, so that your hand wraps around it securely in several different grips. The finish is fairly rough, especially on the newer ones. I don't care much for the inlaid versions, the inserts add a bit of bulk to what is otherwise a very trim and elegant knife.

That said, there really is no wrong choice. You'll probably love whichever one you get.

You could get the Wilson Combat version. It has grooves cut into the titanium. I find it to provide a little better grip.

You could start with an all-Ti, and down the line, get a G10 slab like mine made. Now it's grippy!

I'd get the micarta if you have the coin. The plain Ti seems to mar up really easily. The micarta "protects" the finish imho.

If grip is of concern, you might, as Gadgetman7 suggested, consider the Starbenza version--I believe that large left handed versions exist.

Another option would be to take a look at a left handed Umnumzaan.

I've never handled one with micrata inlays however I have and EDC one with plain Ti handles and find them to be more than adequete. IMO CRK's Ti has a very nice texture to it and is the most "grippy" metal handle I've felt and it is in no way agressive or hard on pockets and hands the handle alone is partially worth the price of admission.

I'm a lefty and have both a Lg LH Sebenza Ti handles and a Sml LH Sebenza with Micarta inserts. I like the feel of the Micarta and carry it versus the Ti.
