Hey guys, I got my first Sebenza today and I have a few questions. I picked this knife up off the secondary market and everything looked pretty good to me at first. However, I took the knife apart and noticed one of the scales says A-21 and the other says B-21. Is this normal? Also the ball interface looks like is has moved really far across the blade tang but just looking at the knife the lock up seems fine. What do yall think? 20220401_164052.jpg20220401_164037.jpg20220401_164117.jpg

The A/B dates are perfectly normal. It appears a tad far, but acceptable IMO. Nice knife.

Normal and normal

A21 means Q1 of 2021 and B21 means Q2 and just means when those scales were made

Look at where the BALL rests on the blade that's perfect

Looks good to me on both accounts. I’m going to assume your birth card is somewhere after April of 2021. And yes, the lock is fine. Enjoy it!

Thanks guys! Your answers makes me feel better and yes its a July 2021 birthcard.

Magnificent knife! The beauty of the ceramic lock interface is that lock wear is virtually non-existent. The ball may cross X percentage across the blade tang, but remember, that's a ramp. It will take decades of daily use to change the lock up. I'm 43 and don't anticipate wearing any of mine out in my lifetime. In the knife industry, much is made of lock strength, but not enough people talk of lock longevity. That Sebenza is a lifetime tool, bro.

The lockup looks later on the 31 because of the ball interface. This is normal, and what you see on a brand new perfect specimen. The actual contact isn’t late. 21’s would rarely become that late in lockup, but some heavily used models may get that far
