When I reassemble my Sebenza I tighten both of the handle screws first then assemble the blade & washers and install them as an assembly. My question is do I tighten the pivot screw with the blade in the open position or the closed position? The lock bar seems to cover more of the blade when I assemble the knife in the closed position.

Thanks for your help,

Jim C

When I reassemble I put it all together and start all three screws. I then grasp it by the front bolster, close the blade, and then tighten the screws starting with the pivot. This ends up allowing about a third of the blade tang to be covered with the lock bar. If I assemble it with the blade open then the lock bar covers 50 to 75 percent of the blade tang. I like the former.

I asked the same question of CRK and was told they recommend tightening the pivot screw with the blade halfway between the open and closed position.
