Sebenza Redesigned?

I read an article where they asked Chris Reeve at BLADE about the future of the sebenza, and they said he is working on a new model with tweaks. The article alluded to a possible big change, but didn't really have anything else to add about it.

Is a new model really in the works? like a sebenza 25 or 26?

Anyone heard anything?

I think I heard something about a new blade shape, someone posted something about it when they saw them at Blade if I remember correctly..

the insingo still isn't out in normal distribution, so my question is, what's the time frame we're looking at on this new blade. man i hate being late to the game, so much catching up to do.

When I spoke to Chris awhile back, I asked if there was going to be a for example 25th anniversary sebenza design and he stated they were working on it when time permits because of how busy they are with new knives and keeping up with production with the existing models.?...............I will be as anxious as anyone to see a newly designed sebenza !!

It may be discussing the insingo blade shape, but I hope not. The way I read it was that it was the next evolution in Sebenzas, like from classic to reg to 21 to 25? (not sure if reg or classic came first but yeah, you get my point)

... not sure if reg or classic came first ...

The original Sebenza looked like the Classic, that's why it's called classic. The Regular came next, with some people asking for the Classic back as an alternate. So CRK issued the MM (for 2000) which was a classic shape. Then the Regular was discontinued in favor of the current Classic 21.

Its funny how when the classic was discontiued to bring the regular into production, people wanted the Classic brought back. Now the regulars are gone eveyone wants the reg brought back. I think what that means is we want all sebenzas in every form broght back :) Hopeful wishing

I subscribed to this thread as I don't want to miss out on getting updates.

Lisantica, you may have been late, but you certainly have caught up.

I've seen your collection. :D:thumbup:

Re: the redesign, I hope the Insingo remains a variant. It's rarity adds to it's cool factor

I dont think we will see a complete redesign of the Sebenza, but more tweaks again as seen through the 25 plus years it has been in the industry. I do have a strange feeling we might see a change to the same lock design (ie ceramic ball) as seen on the Umnumzaan. I have read far less issues related to sticky lock on the Umnumzaan then on the old lockbar design of the Sebenza.

I think the less knives shipped back to CRK with such related issues the happier Chris would be.

(of course this is all just my opinion)

now what are you up to?

Thirty-something :)

Darn, I thought I was reading a April, 2012 thread where there is a new design....that would have tipped the collection to 40 in no time!

$10K+ in folding pocket knives?!

So you brought up a thread that is almost a year old, just to tell Lisa you are confused as to why she would have/want 10K in folders:confused::p

Many on BF have much more than 10K in knives.

He got me to Lisa, I only opened it to see what the heck was up with this new model talk :grumpy::p
