I have 3 Sebenza's, All Regular Style. I want to know who likes the Regular and Why ???, And who likes the Classic/21 Style and Why ??? Pro's & Cons of Each ??? :) Large or Small Does Not matter in this thread. Just Regular OR Classic/21 Style !!!

I personally like the blade profile of the regular. I do not mind the handle profile of the Classic/21 style, though I do prefer the regular with the finger grooves by the lock. The blade profile is what is keeping me from getting a Sebenza 21. I just do not like the pointy blade profile of the Sebenza 21, but I love the drop point style of the Regular. :D

Aesthetics: Prefer the regular -- I've liked it's "smoother" look ever since it was introduced in 1996.

Functionality: I like the blade profile of the regular -- the more pronounced belly, and more material towards the tip. I like the handle features of the classic/classic21 -- the single smooth, large finger notch feels better to me than the smaller scallops on the regular.

Result: my main EDC since 1996 is a large regular unique (the one that folks here probably tire of seeing). I do, however, rotate through a small classic w/ cocobolo inlays when I need to travel lighter, and on a very rare occasion (translation: "when I misplace my large regular, and the resultant anticipation of exhibiting withdrawl symptoms), a large classic CGG.

I have a slight preference for the Classic style over the Regular. The 21 looks good, but I don't like the tapered handles as much.. not sure why  ...I just prefer the Classic's untapered look.

Does anyone have a side-by-side picture of a classic, regular and 21- all the same size? I've never seen a picture of all 3 next to each other to compare them. I still haven't figured out the differences between the classic and the 21. A classic should be showing up at my doorstep any minute, so I'll be able to compare, but a picture would be nice.

I perfer the Classic over the regular. The handle is more comfortable for me (IMH), and I like the pointy blade profile. I also don't mind the regular's blade profile. I'd like to see a regular's blade in a Classic's handle.

The 21 in essentially the same as the Classic, with a more pronounced chamfor on the leading handle edge. I think you probably wouldn't know the difference if you were blindfolded.

I am excited to check out my first regular model, a small regular. I have only had classics, cocobolo and micarta.

I too want to see a Regular Blade In A Classic Handle. Maybe that would be the Best of Both Worlds !!!

I have has smalls and larges of both styles. I prefer the regular Sebbies because I like the regular's blade profile better and it just feels better in my hand.

I only have one Sebenza, a large regular. I bought it new so I could have chosen any style I wanted. But when I found out CRK was discontinuing this model I immediately placed an order. Both designs are good, but I like the aesthetics of the regular the best.

Actually I think the size matter. Classic/21 in small and Regular for Large knives in my opinion. The pointier blade on the Classic/21 is to much fighter style for my taste when it comes to a Large all round user. But for EDC use if the knife is small is it just great.

regular regular regular. I've always edc'd a reg... I've had dozens of both variations pass through my hands... wood, leather, CGG, you name it... I once traded for a large classic woodie for what ammounted to around $75 outta my pocket (bought a Barry/Wood folder from evilbay for $125, traded it for the Classic and a Microtech)... I HATE how the corner of the tang sticks out of the Classic when closed... it LOOKS like it sticks out a tad less with the 21... I am considering a Sm 21 this summer... I don't like to speculate, and I've never actually had one in my paws. I may opt for a new Mnandi though.. I miss that little guy. NEhoo... I've always preferred the looks of the Reg all the way around... but I'm thinkin the lesser contoured handle of the sm 21 would be more comfy in hand.

For the large sebbie I like the regular design for the small sebbie I like the classic. I own many in both configs and sizes however thats the combo that I like the most. For the smaller sebbie the belly just isnt as needed so I love the slimmer tip, the large I like the extra belly on the regular config.

I just got my first regular in a trade, a small, and really prefer the blade style of the regular. I like the classic handle shape better though, in most regards. Cut a little bit with it yesterday, mainly cardboard boxes, and shaved a little bark on a stick. I would like to get a big brother for the small regular. I really like my inlay Sebbies, but have never handled a regular with inserts.

Classic/21 handle with the blade of the regular would be my perfect Sebenza.

I went with the 21 because while I like the blade of the regular better I wanted a handle that felt more comfortable to me. Plus the blade of the 21 isn't bad.....just prefer the regular blade shape.

I only have large Sebenzas and it's a tough call. I would have to say that the Classic is slightly more comfortable to hold, especially in front where the index finger sits. The pointy blade is also very useful in slicing.

But there is something about the Regular that I still prefer overall. It's mostly the blade shape -- just looks better and more "classic" to my eye.

Funny thing how I prefer the Regular when, purely as a functional tool in my hand, the Classic is a better fit.

Maybe the appeal of the Regular is that it's going away/gone. If I recall, Chris Reeve replaced the Classic with the Regular some years ago and people wanted a re-release of the Classic. Now that the Classic (or 21) is back and the Regular is gone, we all love the Regular.

Bottom line may be that they're both great, classic knives and that if you can afford both, get both.

I have 12 sebs. All regular except a classic with micarta and a tanto. I just think the profile on the regular is more functional and stronger.

I have always felt that the Regular feels like a great design for the Large and the Classic design is perfect for the Small.

I've never owned a regular, so maybe I should bite my tongue...but I've handled one before and when I picked it up, it felt immediately uncomfortable. The Classic, meanwhile, had a really deeply satisfying feeling of comfort about it.
As for the blades, it's easy to say one is better for this and that, but realistically there's nothing either blade can do that the other can't.
