Sebenza Resale Question

I don't know for sure but I'll take some guesses.

Small regular I'd say more or less around $250 in very good condition. I had to go as low as $210 to sell one I had.

Large decorated probably depends on how appealing the design is. I think the wood inlay has gotten enough attention to drive down some of the decorated on the second hand market unless it's an exceptional design.

It also tend to go in cycles, sometimes knives of any brand lag, sometimes they go fast. And yes some people are probably waiting for the new blade material.

I sold off most of my Sebenza collection a while back and I got $450 for a NIB small wood inlay, $585 for a NIB small damascus wood inlay, $275 for a unique graphic large, $550 for a NIB classic large and small set, $425 for a 99 large wood inlay like new, and $300 for a small LDC Sebenza. They just aren't selling as good as they use to. I just sold a plain regular large for $265 that was used. I think things will pick up in a couple of months. Wish I'd hung onto a few of those :( Maybe it has something to do with the new blade steels, I just don't know.

Thanks for the input. I will try to sell again in few months, or better yet come to my senses and keep them! The temptation of a small decorated and Mnandi (sp) is pretty great though.

Hello, Yes it is a sad thing to see the knife market softening up. I think it has something to do with the reccession maybe....I don't know. In the long run I think people will be alright. Luxury goods such as high end folding knives, jewelry, watches, cars and even real estate in some areas are taking a small thrashing........

Hello Again, I forgot to say don't sell all of your knives for the newer steel blades. I think that you can send in your knife and CRK will install and fit a new blade and send your old bg42 back too you with the new one installed. I think this is done by CRK for around $100.00.....

Get a GOLD MEMBERSHIP to the Forums and try selling them here. You are only a BASIC MEMBER and are only allowed to trade. But seeing as you just told the world you have 2 knives for sale and included an e-mail addy you got free advertising. Score one for you with the back-door deal!

Did anyone else notice this.

I have been trying to sell a couple of Sebenzas (Large Decorated and Small Plain) for a few days now and have received no interest. I am suprised to see what looks like some other very good deals on the forums generating little interest.

Don't take it as me knocking on you, being that you are a newer member here you probably didn't know the rules.

So what?!?

Kirk didn't break any rules, he just asked for advice. "New member" he has been a member since 99!

Listen, I'm not going to get into an argument with you. The way he worded his post made it read like a back-door ad that he was trying to sell some knives. This is probably not what he intended. That's how I read it. Maybe if he worded it different I wouldn't read into a harmless advice question. My apologies to Kirk. And as far as stating he was a newer member...that's my fault, I misread his status.

Ken,

The post has been removed. It was meant to be a legitimate question, but should have been done better.

Thanks, What for ?? For being more understanding of this fellow. I am sure he did not want to break any rules......just get a question answered. If you asked most of the larger sebenza collectors they would probably agree:)

Question?? Was this site always broken down into these membership levels, i.e. gold, premium etc. etc. Also are these funds used mainly for site maintanance and construction of Bladeforums.com???

Just curious. Thanks, JC
