Hi all,

I bought a sm regular Sebenza about 5 years ago. My local knife shop pushed CR's pretty hard to it's customers, and I fell right in line. I never liked the sebenza all that much. I knew it was a quality item, I just never bonded with it. At the time, I had a low paying job, and owed my father some cash. Not having the money on hand, and him being a knife collector also, I gave him the sebenza to settle the bill. I didn't miss it, as I never really liked it all that much.

Flash forward to present day. My dad called me the other day, and told me he had sold his entire knife collection. As soon as he told me that, I thought damn, there goes the sebenza. Then he said "of course I held out the chris reeve knife you gave me". I started smiling. He had an offer for me. He said if I let him sell my old Beretta 92 (old duty weapon), he would give me the sebenza. I sold the beretta to him several years ago for cheap, and now carry a glock, so I wasn't going to miss it.

I went to his house a couple of days ago, and he had the sebenza there for me. I've been carrying it ever since! It's replaced my edc emerson cqc7b. I forgot how NICE this thing is! It's just so much more refined and solid than my other knives. It's funny how a few years can change your outlook.

Sometimes "old friends" rediscovered unexpectedly are the best ones and have a value far beyond their cash value. Carry it well and stay safe.

Sometimes it takes a few years to appreciate what you really value in a knife.
It took me a while to warm up to the Sebbies also.
:D Gratz!

Thanks to all you guys! As an aside, I had never taken apart and cleaned and lubed this sebenza. I followed the instructions in the sticky, and WOW what a difference in the action! I guess 5 year old lube doesn't work so well lol. I used TW25B gun grease (which I almost suspect is what the fluorinated grease is), and the difference is amazing!

I know what you mean. I bought a very used Sebenza here and it was so gunked up, the action was really stiff. Black gunk around the pivot was the problem. Took it apart and rubbed everything down with Tuf-Cloth. It's nice being able to clean them so easily.

Good story and so true. I have had this happen to me not just with knives but other gear. People's perspectives change over time and its cool when it happens because its like getting something brand new.
