Greetings!

This might seem like a dumb question, but here it goes:

I have never really looked at the dates on my sebenzas. I know they have not always had them, but I was hoping for a little help here.

I was polishing and oiling my recent small sebenzas. I see that the date on both sides of the scales doesn't match for all of them, which makes since if the lock side had been sitting awhile or what ever. However, the 2011 in the picture doesn't have any dates at all:confused:
I don't have any worries about it being fake, I was just thinking that maybe they stopped dating the annuals for the last year or something...... I know they discontinued the regular style somewhere around when this knife was made.
The unique in the picture is from this year so I know they at the very least started dating the scales again with the new version.
So, does anyone know how the dating system works? Did they stop and then start back?
At insight would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know about the date marking of the anual Regulars but the date code will just keep on going, there is no need to cycle it. I personally have yet to see a Sebenza with no date on the inside though.....

The date on the inside of the scales is the date the scale was produced so they may or may not match. The date on your birthday card is the date the knife was "made". Out side of that I'm out of facts. :p

Can someone look at their 2011 small annual to check if it has a date please?

I just checked mine and I'll be damned, no dates. Birthdate is 10/25/2011. I've never seen unmarked scales either. I'd wager the 2011 annuals are the only ones. I wonder why.

Anyways, I wouldn't worry about the dates at all. I had a brand new damascus 21 that had dates that didn't match. I called CRK and Heather said they are purely for manufacturing info and it is entirely possible to get two scales from different batches that have different dates.

The different dates did not worry me....it was no dates that had me wondering! I guess that makes the knife even more unique!!
Thanks for checking yours humblerodent:)

Dates that don't match is common. CRK makes tons of scales, then grabs them to make the individual knife. Most times they are the same or 1/4 off ( check my timeline ). I have bought new ones from dealers and have seen them a year or so off, so its no worries. I have also had unmarked ones. I only have 2 annuals, so I cannot vouch for them, but the unmarked ones I had were back around 1997 or thereabouts....!!! No worries, its more common than you know.

I have one, a small regular. The lock side is marked A07, the other is unmarked & the birthdate is April, 07.

Just a strange anomaly, I suppose!
