Do any of you do anything to the stock Ti scales on your Seb as far as refinishing? Steel wool or oil or anything to smooth it out?

Just curious, since there is a definite difference from my Classic MM to this new 21. Of course, handling will inevitably change them, but I was wondering what, if anything, else is done to them.

I have used some very fine steel wool on my EDC large Regular Sebenza scales.

It gives them a nice well worn look.

I used some heavy duty Scotch-Brite on mine to get that worn look. I like it. It doesn't take long to do either.

I leave it as is. Every mark and scratch is a memory of where it came in handy. I've sent one in for refurb but it's only because I bought it used and I wanted my memories, not someone elses.

By the way, the refurb does make it look brand new.

Like Tony, I used some scotch brite on my scales which smoothed and polished them up to a nice finish.

I glass bead blast mine @ 60 psi....adds a nice soft finish to them that doesn't show as much wear.

The two pics on the left are what they look like now...the 2 pics on the right are of the factory finish. The tanto Sebenza still has the factory finish so you can really see the difference that glass beads make.

I really don't like the forced wear look done with wire wool or scotch pads, just stick it your pocket for a few years and it will get there all by its self. :)
