just saw some sebenzas with serrations, they look really nice. especially when the serrations are shown on both sides.

what do you guys think of them? are they very hard to sharpen with a sharpmaker?

I generally do NOT like serrations. BUT, with that said, CRK's have the BEST serrations in the business. They are the only serrations that are on BOTH sides of the knife.

I can't help you with the sharpmaker.

I have a Regular model Sebenza with serrations and love it.. as for the sharpmaker it works great on it as long as you use the pointed side and I get it ultra sharp with it.
(hair popping on the serrations). It is one of only two in my collection with serrations I like and use. The other is a spyderco delica P/S....

When I started buying "different" knives, I had a Meyerco Blackie Collins "Speedster" I think, with serrations on both sides. I HATED those. They bound more than cut. Now, they were close together, not like the CRK version. But, I am still leery because of that old plastic handled monster!

When I'm not in school I usually work in the industrial sector (til I get through bartending school at least) where my Seb sees its fair shair of hard work.
Before you think you need serrations, I oughta remind you how tough S30V can be. I've got a straight edge on my Seb, which has handled everything I've thrown at it. And I've thrown alot of stuff at it. This includes materials where serrations would normally be the protocol; stuff like nylon, manila, landscaping tarp, weed-wacker coils, etc. I'm not sure serrations make a terrible difference.
On another note, I swear by Lansky sharpeners when it comes to sharpening serrations; I find the sharpmaker is a handy tool for a quick edge, but the Lanskys, when you pay attention, can put a surgical edge on a knife. I never learned to like the stick-and-swipe mode of sharpening, but that's just me.
