I have been working on designing a sheath for my Sebenza's that will allow me to carry with the clip on since 75%+ of the time I use it.

I finally came up with a design that I'm happy with and would like some feedback from people as to what you think.

I have been making sheaths for a short while now and have toyed with the idea of selling some to fund my hobby (I've sold a few but always as part of another knife deal). What do you think a fair price for these would be?

This is not an ad, just looking for opinions right now :)

I'm not crazy about the off-set, I guess that without the clip on the knife you could center the rig up. I prefer horizontal carry for work myself, any ideas in that regard?

cpirlte -- I like the looks of it a lot. I particularly like the way the knife is down below the belt area.

I would think that somewhere in the vicinity of $30 would be an appropriate price. Maybe a bit more.

I do have a question tho, brought about by the type of trousers being worn in the pic. Is that a "G" clip that goes over the belt/trouser top? Or is it more of a "U" clip? While it looks ideal for the trousers portrayed, am not sure how well it would hang onto a belt, unless there was a piece returning upwards on the end of the clip. I virtually always wear jeans, or cutoff jeans. I do have a couple pairs of knit trousers that I wear very rarely. While it would be nice to have a sheath that would work with them, I wear them so seldom that I can't see buying a sheath just for those few days each year.

Overall, a good design, I think.

Good work, bet she snaps into place nicely!

Keep thinking! An active mind is....well...an active mind ;)

cpirtle-Great idea,I prefer a small unique
sebenza for daily carry. In the summer I wear
nylon cargo shorts with virtually no belt, except for a flimsy adjustment strap.

This looks absolutely ideal.Let me be he first to place my order just in case you
suddenly decide to go into production, and I
hope you do.

Like the idea, generally, but prefer horizontal or canted. BTW, I'm with you on keeping the clip on.

Thanks for all of the support and suggestions.

I have been working on a horizontal (canted) design wich looks like it will be an easy mod, but I've got about 6 other sheaths going at the same time so it's taking me a while. I'm also leaving on vacation next weekend so it may be a while before I get it done.

The clip design I almost always use is the G type which can be clipped to a waistband or threaded onto a belt.

For the vertical sheath it had to be off center to maintain the clip which was one of my design objectives, a canted/horizontal model would not need to be done the same way.

I appreciate those who have expressed interest in buying one, as soon as I have a couple of design styles worked out I'll be posting in the for sale area and contact the people I know are interested via e-mail.

Any other thoughts or suggestions? Something you would like to see?

BTW, The only Style Benza I don't own is a Large Standard, if anyone has one that they'd be interested in letting go of let me know. I'll trade a combination of sheaths (any type) and money for a user.

Thanks :)

Thanks for everyone who has expressed interest in my sheaths.

I took all of the suggestions and have come up with a canted model as well.

It's done in a single piece of 1/8" Kydex, has a "G" Clip, and no hardware. Allows you to leave the clip on your Benza as well.

Shown is a Large Classic.

E-mail me for more details.

Thanks!

Good show.. I think you are doign a good job on both counts.. I have reveiwed a lot of custom kydex sheaths (mainly for balisongs though :p) and despite not working with the stuff directly can tell if a) a lot of thought is put in a design and 2) if a lot of effort is put on it..

I like both designs quite a bit.. and from the sculpting and cutting I can see that you really put some effort and time on it unliek how some people finish up.

I find there are two schools of kydex tastes.. one with the big and bulky with lots of screws and doodads - very robocopish (whic I liek too) show in yoru forst one.. and a sleek covert one liek your second one.. for a worker knife it makes little difference if you dont care if the knife is exposed -your second design woudl be better with the crowd (I think??) then again I come from a group of super hero wanna bes in the balisong forums :) a totally different discipline from the sebenza crew I am sure.

one thing is for sure you have to keep the design tight and have as little slack as possible (no rivvets or excess material if possible on the outer perimeter of the knife silhouette) it makes for a true custom looking sheath instead of a factory cutout..

again keep it up and thanks for sharing. I dunn ohow to approach the kydex work on a working (non 'tacti-fricki-cal') knife quite yet but I hope to get ideas from this forum. :)

Great design! On your homepage I see you're also doing kydex neck sheaths for the Uumfan. Would you consider doing one for a small, right handed, regular Seb? I yes, please contact me via email.

Thanks for all of the positive comments!

I have 2 or 3 other styles in the works as well, I'll post them on my web page when they're done.

I'm also making large order or the canted sheaths for a distributor in California so for people who don't want to wait let me know and I can point you in his direction.

chingachkook, I can make you a neck sheath for a small seb no problem, I'll drop you a note. Just not sure of shipping charges to Germany..

Thanks!
