If anyone's interested and wants a cheap/good quality sheath for their large Sebenza try a Letherman Supertool nylon sheath, its what I carry mine in after I got my clip insert and I really like it! It has a small amount of padding to it also which helps keep the benz in good shape.

I know...A 300+ knife in a $6 sheath! Hey! It works for me and I like it...

I sometimes carry mine in a Buck nylon sheath (says Buck in big letters)-just to keep people from knowing I'm carrying an expensive knife

Thanks for the tip!

A.G. Russell also sells a black generic, nylon sheath. It's padded, soft and well sewn. I have several and sometimes carry my Small Sebenza in it.

Has anybody tried the leather or nylon sheaths offered by the Chris Reeve company? I was thinking about one of the leather ones. I just got a large decorated sebbie. I want the fit to be snug but non-abrasive. RW

I have both the Chris Reeve nylon and the leather. The nylon is plain with a button, but the button has a protective piece over the back of the button to protect the knife.
The leather is fine, it too has a protected button. It is heavy duty, good duty leather as LEO's may use. It has the CR logo embossed on it. I would describe it as a large, roomy sheath fitted to the knife.

I'll second Bo. Gary Graley made a really nice sheath for my large Sebenza. It fits horizontally on my belt and is quite a secure carry. The price was reasonable and the turn-around was fast. If anyone is considering a leather sheath look at Graley's work.

I have two of the nylon sheaths; I like their slim profile. I lke to carry belt sheaths horizontally, and the "loops" are only about 1". Can anyone tell me if the horizontal loops on the leather sheath are wider than 1".

Thanks,
pojim

pojim, if you are asking about my sheaths, well I make them to fit the belt you'll be wearing, it's one of the questions I try and remember to ask when someone wants a sheath. The horizontal sheaths typically fit up to a 1 1/2" belt but if the person's belt is wider, I make the loop a little bigger to fit, and if their belt is smaller I try to accomadate with a tighter fold to the sheath.

I've worn the cloth sheaths and as long as they have a snap, I don't mind them, but the velcro ones loose they're grip and don't care much for them.

Thanks guys for speaking up, wear them in good health!

If you are wondering about the sheathes CRK offers for the large Sebenza, made by Gfeller Casemakers, I can say they are first rate. They are a bit roomy; the knife can knock a little in place, but are very secure. It has a rather large footprint, but can only accommodate a 1” wide belt in the horizontal position.

Gary makes a few styles of sheathes for the Sebenza, his open ended horizontal sheath is terrific, secure fit and quick, easy access. He made a more standard vertical model for a small Sebenza I gave my brother, and I will need one in summer colors for myself before the season’s change. Nice guy, too boot!
