Sebenza - small -vs- large?

I have BM750 Pinnacle. It's currently my favorite. I was thinking a smaller version might be OK and have my eye on the small plain Sebenza.

Unfortunately, I can't find one locally to get a "feel" for how much smaller it is.

This would be for everyday carry, clipped inside my right-front pocket.

Suggestions?

Mike

P.S. Best price I've seen is $290 from 1sks. Is anyone else less expensive?

The small Sebenza is a wonderful EDC knife. The small is about the same size as a Spyderco Calypso lt. jr. but the blade is narrower. The OAL is a touch under 7" but the
titanium handle is thick enough to be comfortable in the hand.

The small is about the same size as a Spyderco Wegner, Jr. Keep an eye on the Sale forums, if you are lucky and quick you can sometimes pick one up for <$250.00.

The small is very easy to carry as all small knives are.

However, the difference in size and weight makes them feel like totally different knives in the hand for me. The difference is significant.

I used to prefer a 3" for edc, but after adjusting to the weight of my LCC, I would not have a problem carrying the large which is a lot more knife for a little more money.

If I were to pay that much for a knife, I'd want it to be one I could take everywhere.

Are you referring to the fact that the 3.6" blade of the Pinnacle is technically illegal here in Colorao?

So is $290 (http://www.onestopknifeshop.com/store/chris-reeve-small-sebenza.html) the best new price I'll find online?

Mike

Michael,
I doubt you'll find a new one for a price any better than that. Chris Reeve regulates very closely the minimum price at which his dealers can sell his knives. Some dealers will occasionally try to work with you on shipping costs or taxes, but what you see is pretty much what you get when it comes to CRK prices.

Michael,

I guess I just mean that there are lots of places where the large will raise eyebrows but the small won't. Even places where the large one is technically OK will give you trouble.

Shmackey:

The large Sebie is a very "non-threatening" piece, even though it is a 3.5" blade. IMHO
I find it an easy EDC. I don't have a small Sebie yet, but it may be even better as an EDC.

Let us know what your reactions are when you do the ultimate decision.

That is a good price, but check the for sale/trade forum. I got a NIB small Sebenza from another forumite for $230, and have since seen another at that price-just don't expect to get it for that. It's a bargain at $290, anyway, IMO.

FYI, 1SKS is out of stock on the plain small Sebenza and won't be getting any in for several weeks. I paid $305 at knifecenter.com and had it in my hands in 24 hours.

FYI

There has been a price increase from 290 to 305 for the small.

If 1SKS is out of the small at the old price, the incoming ones will be 305.

BTW, BladeArt has both sizes with polished blades and screws which must have been ordered before the price increase because the prices are only about $5 more than the new unpolished prices.

Thanks. Just ordered the small one from them.
