Is the tip of the thumb stud a ball bearing? Feels like the Microtec glass breaker which is a ball bearing.

No it isn’t. Instead of the tip being square like on some knives, it’s rounded so it won’t tear up your thumb. It does look like it’s a ball bearing cut in half
