Sebenza thumb studs

I don't yet own a Sebenza, but have spent hours reading about the knife, especially here on bladeforums (great site). I'll probably go with the large Regular, though the Classic Micarta is tempting.

My question is about thumb studs. Do any of you find that double thumb studs catch on your pocket when you remove the knife, or make it more difficult to clip the knife to your pocket? If there was no price difference, would you prefer single or double studs?

Second, I see that large Regulars come with either blue or silver studs. A minor point, I know, but what's your preference?

Thanks very much. Look forward to owning a Sebenza.

I've never tried a double lug Sebenza but I have had other knives with dual studs and I'd say about 90% of the time the other stud catches on my pocket. So, I prefer the single thumb stud regardless of cost. I've also never had a use for the other lug.

I don't have any issues with the thumbstuds catching on anything. If I had my druthers, I would have dual thumbstuds. I am very ambidextrous, and duals would make me very happy! I also prefer the blue thumbstuds.

I like the blue thumbstuds on my Meteor and small Regular, although the silver looks good on my Micarda Classic. I've had no issues with the double lug on that knife either. Good luck with your first one.

Yes, the double stud would catch on the seam of my jeans :o

Somewhere in this section is a photo of my Large Classic Sebenza after I shortened the stud . Key ring etc tended to catch on the stud, opening the knife ,it was a bit sharply pointed too . No problem since .Took all of about a minute to do .

I don't have a problem with double thumblugs catching on things, I bought it with it so I can also open it left handed if need be which I do often. I have Sebs with Gold, blue and silver lugs I find the anodizing on the gold and blue wears kinda fast from opening and closing might be something you want to think about. If you don't mind it wearing which I don't its not a big deal that just means your using your knife a lot like its ment to be used. As for the double lugs it comes down to preferrence do you want single or double.

I think the cut out of the locking slab of the sebenza's with double lugs is what I don't like. I am 100% right handed and a single lug is much more comfortable to me.

I have no problems with the studs catching. I do prefer the single sided on as the double ones wear out my jeans quicker!

I have several double thumbstud Sebbies and they only seem to catch on the pocket seam of the jeans (Levi) that I wear. Mainly the stud on the clip-side.

Mete brings up an interesting idea - shortening the stud.

Thanks to all for your replies regarding single or dual Sebenza thumb studs. Since I'm right-handed and not ambidextrous at all, one thumb stud seems like the way to go. Appreciate the input.

I have a double - don't have any trouble with catching on clothes, but I slide my fingers down around it to pull it out.

One thing a double thumbstud gives you is a visual reference point when sharpening - ie on my classic (lefty) just clearing the thumbstud put the blade at 12.6 degrees per side.
