Anyone ever replace their single thumbstud for two or an aftermarket one?
If so, How did you go about taking off the existing single sided thumbstud.
I want to try it but clueless what would be the easiest method.
thanks

They are press-fit into the blade, not screwed in. You're not going to have an easy time with this.

+1. If you want to change your Sebenza to double studs send it to CR and buy the studs from them and have them install it.

While we are on the subject...Will CRK double stud a micarta and secondly will they double stud a LE sebbie??? I heard they wouldn't do a LE....

I'm not 100% sure so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, folks.

But I think that all Classic knives come with the cut-out on the lockbar to allow for a double thumb lug, even if it's not fitted. So you could make a single lugged knife into a double lugged one at any time later.

Regular knives (like the LE you name) only have the lockbar cut-out if they happen to come from the shop with a double lug already fitted.

I think that, once the knife is built and finished, they will not do any work to the lockbar at a later date, due to the assembly process. Here's a example of two single lugged knives, first a Classic where you will notice the cut-out and then a Regular where it's not done;

I had double thumb studs put on my large regular sebenza and they ground the opening on the lockbar side and bead blasted it. I am thinking this is included in the cost of adding the double thumb stud.

I was told by Heather that they can add thumbstuds to any Seb after the sale EXCEPT the LE's. The reason is what Roefisher mentions above - the LE's are the only Regular style Seb's with an inlay on the locktab side and it doesn't allow the groove to be cut out after the original manufacture.

Of course I could be wrong. Better to contact CR yourself to verify.

I ordered mine with a double thumb stud from CRK.

the one on the lock bar side is nearly useless on my small plain 21 since my thumb can't seem get at it in my left hand, and yes, the lock bar is ground to accomodate it. this is cosmetic IMHO.

that said, i like the asthetics of the two studs. :)

I got the single stud off :) The hole is a little small for the double thumbstud I had but I'm sure I can thin it down
thanks all for the advice
