sebenza trainers

I love sebenzas, but here is a thought: Does CRK ever have seconds
or parts of knives that aren't quite up to snuff that could be turned into trainers? I met a fellow that apparently had a sebenza trainer that was 100% correct right down to the weight except the blade had no point and no edge. He did say that Chris said he would never make another one as the trainer cost nearly as much as the original. So how could we go about doing this? Cold Steel stamps its factory seconds with a big "2" on the handle. And I seem to recall Pacific Cutlery doing this with some of its balisongs many years ago. Any ideas, anyone?

Why not just by a good used one and put a little masking tape over the edge and point? It would clean right off with WD40--

I've tried that, but it doesn't work. Either the tape is too thin and doesn't cover the point and edge properly or becomes too thick and you can't close the knife properly.
