Hey guys,

Chris Reeve is obviously away from work and not avaliable to answer my questions. I hope somewhere here would be able to :).

For a Large Sebenza 21 with Micarta, how much will it cost to:
- Upgrade to S35VN steel?
- Upgrade to Double Lugs?
- Spa Treatment?
- Tool kit ( if they sell on for the Seb )

Does anyone know if Chris Reeve will add a Micarta inlay to just a regular Seb?

Thanks in advance for the help!

For all that, it may be cheaper to buy a new one... (dont quote me on that Im not 100% sure, but Im pretty sure reblades are pricey)

Cheers!

I have the list in front of me. double lug:$35 New perforated washers:$1.50 Sandblasting handle:$27.50 S35vn blade:$129
Tool kit???Its an allen wrench..Return shipping is $14 bucks.
Put a raindrop damascus on that micarta for $270 plus the wait..
Hope it helps.

I was thinking the same thing as I was reading your original post. Add another $100 on the cost of your laundry list and you can go buy a brand new one.

Ken, If I were you I wouldn't worry about the S35VN blade, it doesn't offer too much over S30V anyway, totally not worth the extra $129. Handle refurbishing, double lugs combined will cost you $65, which imho is a very fair price. Sebenzas don't really have tool kits, the wrench it comes with does it all. However, if you want to get the lube CRK does sell it separately. They go for $15 per tube i believe.

Thanks everyone for the help. I just needed to know the number so I can total how much my cost would be (actual knife + double lugs + refurb, etc) Now for the hard part, I need to find a Large Micarta Sebenza. If ya got any, hit me up!

Not trying to advertise my thread but I figured if its a chris reeve knife why not tell people in the CRK forum. With that said I got an Umnum for trade.

Large micartas are really hard to find right now. Your best bet might be to order one directly from CRK.
But you never know, you might get lucky and find one on the exchange tomorrow.

I have a large Micarta, if you see one snag it. They go quickly.

I have a S30V, S35V, and Raindrop Damascus blade for mine, I like variety.:D

I just bought a Large Micarta 21 this week from a dealer. I would Recommend going to the dealer list on CRK's website and go down the list clicking on each website. It worked for me. The best part was that it didn't have the Idaho made stamp and they hadn't raised their prices on their site yet. I was so excited I bought a Large 21 (with stamp) and Mnandi in snakewood. I'm excited for them to arrive. I noticed today that the prices have now been updated to the current rate. I wish you the best on your search.

Nope. The only inlays done currently in the regular profile are exotic woods, and these are known as annual inlayed Sebenzas.

On the chance that he means a "regular" (plain) Classic or 21, the answer is still no, AFAIK...pretty sure inlays are not retrofit work.

No way is the cost of a S35VN blade worth the price of a new blade. I'm not really sure you'd be getting a better blade anyway. Double lugs, spa treatment sounds like the ticket for you my friend. ;)

You might look into selling the knife you have and buying the knife you want. Might save you a few dollars.

Any idea how much for a new small scale?
I have a decorated one and would like to get a plain one to use as a EDC.

I don't believe that they will replace the wood inlays unless there is a problem with them that was due to materials or workmanship.

I've seen some inlays get replaced both by damage (your cost) or splitting (CRK's cost). It's not a typical service option so you'd have to contact CRK directly and discuss this on a case by case basis. They usually end up taking care of the the problem, but if the modifications or damages were intentional, there will be some cost for their service.
