we just had 2 days of rants about a sebenza being to expensive. I dont think sebenzas are expensive at all. But just want to hear what people think about harley davidson. a honda shadow 750 is 1/3 the price of a fat boy. So does anyone think harleys are to expensive.

To expensive

Oh wait, I get it :D . That's funny.

I wonder if there is anyone out there who really thinks the Honda is the better deal? Sure, I can't afford one, but I can't afford a Sebanza either :( .

Harleys are too expensive. There, I said it. I meant it too; but I still wouldnt mind owning one. Just because.

I have Sebenzas and I have a Harley.

I paid $11000 for my Harley in April of 1992.

That's 12 years ago and I will kept it for another 10 years.

So for less than $500 a year; I don't think a Harley is expensive.

The same thing with the Sebenza; I have carried it for 4 years and I will carry it another 20 years at least

So for $300 for 25 years that's what $12 a year?

It depends of the life of the item.

Also Sebenzas and Harleys have GREAT resale values.

You can't say that about Benchmade and Hondas.

Moving to Gadgets & Gear.

Harley's are too expensive. Buy a BMW, get better performance, better ergonomics, better gas mileage, and similar resale value.

Also, you won't be in the crowd of aging "Easy Rider" wanna-bes who dress their shih-tzus up in "Harley" bandannas to try to salvage some of their fading masculinity.

*looks at forum header*

Oh, this isn't W&C?

:D

***hole, you're right; I'm going to sell my Harley and rush out and buy a BMW.

NOT

If you don't understand; I can't explain it. :D

Whenever I've heard a harley rider say "if I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't understand" I always just assumed they meant they weren't any good at explaining things. :p

Don't take it personal.

How do you explain to someone your interest in collecting knives that doesn't have the slightest interest in knives and looks at you weird when you try?

The answer is; you can't.

The same thing with Harleys; either you feel it or you don't.

How do you explain tatooing a motorcycle brand on your arm?

The answer is; you can't.

How many BMW owners have BMW tatooed on their arms?

The answer is NONE.

It's more than just the motorcycle.

Sorry for getting off topic.

Hey Rick, you don't know many BMW motorcycle owners do you? If there's a marque that inspires almost if not as much passion in their owners it's BMW. We just choose to express ourselves differently. Many BMW owners are also Harley owners. We understand.

How many Harley owners have extended range gas tanks on their bikes?

The answer is NONE. (j/k I'm sure there might be one :D)

I don't think so.

Dr. Nick, that proves you don't understand. :D

I had to sell my 1990 Harley FXRS a couple of years ago, I was the original owner. Anyhow, when I was riding and passed other people on bikes ....... I always waived, regardless what they were ridin'. I loved my Harley, my wife bought it for me. Are they too expensive ......... not to me. Sure, you can get quality motorcycles for less ..... no doubt about that. Really, it comes down to what you want and what you can afford.

Personally, I think Sebenzas are too expensive for what you get. I don't own one, but know they are very well made knives, I just think they are too pricey. I feel I would get more value buying a Harley than a Sebenza.

It's all relative I suppose. You could have this debate about anything, cars, furniture, watches, flashlights, etc.

I was just giving you crap Rick. :)

The truth is, I just love to ride. Someday when I can afford to have 5 or 6 bikes in the garage one of them will be a chopper. Until then I want my bikes to do more, long straights and tight twisties, on road and off, and two wheels or one. ;)

My current bike is the essence of what I think motorcycling is about. It's the most fun as I've ever had on motorcycles. It has wire spoke wheels, a loud pipe, kick start only, is black on black, and gets tons of double takes and compliments. It's probably not what you think.

It's a 95 KTM Duke:)

You know, if you said that you were collecting Busse's or Reeves' and looked at me oddly because I didn't understand it, I'd understand. But when someone suggests you buy a Sebenza and you counter with "If you don't have a tattoo of a Pakistani knife, you just wouldn't understand!"... well... I guess they're right.

I have a 2002 Honda Shadow Spirit 1100 and that is why I was able to get a Sebenza. Are Harley's nice bikes.....sure they are but I am happy with what I have and for about 10,000 less. Now if I really had the stones then I would order a Roger Bourget for about 40,000! But then I would have to sell my Sebenza :(

Do you actually know anyone who owns a BMW motorcycle?

Have you been to a BMW rally?

I guess if I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't understand. :D

Rob, How many BMW owners have BMW tatooed on their arms?

I don't (my wife won't let me :( ).

  Harleys are moving art.

Alot is about what you want to be seen on; like cars.

"a BMW, get better performance, better ergonomics, better gas mileage...".

SO WHAT?

I'm 53 and wanted a Harlewy as long as I can remember.

That's about as well as I can explain it.

They're definitely more for the older riders (more money); slow and laid back. ;)

I won't post here again; it's not the topic of this thred.

Really, the reason I like BMW's is I'm a gearhead. I like working on stuff. That's one of the reasons I wanted to get a Harley but they're just too expensive. Easy to work on, easy to maintain and they're pretty good looking bikes too. BMW's are also easy to work on (the twins anyway), easy to maintain and pretty good looking too (to me anyway). They also run less than half what a Harley will cost on the used market.

Truth be told, I like all motorcycles but BMW's and Harleys are probably the easiest to work on so that's what I like to own.
