Hey, I'm in the market for a large Sebenza and am trying to decide which one to get. I'm looking at one with leather inlay, but am wondering if the leather would be as tough as the various wood inlay handles? Anyone had any experience with one, or at least seen or held one? Any impressions on likely durability, or appearance? Thanks...

i have had one and the inlays are "sunken" in so they may be beter than wood inlays for that matter.

but, you should get a unique graphic

large/classic/ dual thumblug is the best way to go!

I own a small blue leather and never had a problem iwth it wearin or discolorin due to water or liquids. I like the leather it doesnt show as much scratching or wear as a graphic or a wood.

Thanks guys, that's exactly what I was hoping to hear. I think the inlayed Sebs are pretty slick--the computer graphics are not really my style--cool that they are so different, but I like the classic styling. Of course, I'll probably change my mind in another year or so about this and then be looking to trade the one I'm about to buy. This seems to be how it goes...want whatever I haven't got--and what I want is ALWAYS more expensive than what I've got:D :D :D

I am also glad to hear that the leather wears well as I just bought my fourth sebenza, a small classic with leather. Damn this hobby is more expensive then my flashlight obsession.

Take a look at the micarta inlays also. They look fantastic and when wet will provide better grip.

It doesn't have anything to do with the Sebenza specifically, but the new blade has an article on sheaths where several makers comment that if leather is done right, it is just as durable as anything, that water won't hurt it, etc.
