Alright guys so I just bought a sebenza that has been anodized and acid wash blade. Anyway I called CRK and I asked if the anodized wave the warranty and they said only if its heat anodized and its not so I'm good there but then I told her the blade is acid washed and then she said they won't touch the knife. So pretty much if the washer is bent or something like that the knife is garbage.. Wow that's all I'm gonna say :( oh and is there anyway to get washers if they let's say get bent?

Just out of curiosity, why would a blade washer bend unless the person who took it apart was incompetent, and why would anyone in their right mind acid wash a Sebenza blade?

This is a stupidity tax all the way across the board!

The Peoples want to know!!!

I got confused by another sebenza I don't have the knife in my hand yet but yeah its is bead blasted and its modded by randy YouTube is soloknifereview.. And actually he did a acid stone washed insingo and it looked really nice IMO.

You always risk losing the warranty on a CRK if it is modded by a 3rd party. It is understandable that they will decline work on any modded CRK, as the tolerances and functions might already be compromised (based on their standards).

I did purchase a Sebenza before that was heavily modded. But I understood that the warranty on that piece was already voided. I bought it because I liked the look of that Small Sebenza.

That looks sick!

I wouldn't get too worried about it at this point unless you already have a problem. It may be a very long time before you have to deal with a problem if at all. When you do you might look to one of the pimpers for help. Some of them are extremely talented. This is my plan for a modified knife from another maker or I will scavenge some parts from another knife.

^^^This. Don't even stress it. Just be careful when you do a cleaning, to treat those washers gently for now. You probably won't ever need it if you treat it right. Good luck. Now lets see those pics!!!

I don't fault any company for voiding a warranty on an item that has been modified by a third party. The work that was done shouldn't affect the function of the knife though so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I assume they would still fix it at a charge to the owner, rather than free under warranty. Don't you think?

Nothing new that any pimp job voids the warranty. IMO if an issue arises the pimper should resolve the issue. Not the original manufacturer/maker.

This is a perfect example of why to not purchase pimped knives no matter the price. People who know little about knives and precision parts take it upon themselves to pimp them. Then when there is an issue, they want them fixed and expect it to be like new again even when some of their pimp jobs make like new impossible. CRK has had this stance for as long as I can remember and you gotta respect them for that.

My advise.....don't bend a washer. I have had nearly 100 sebenzas and never had a washer bend, so with careful disassembly and reassembly, you should be in good shape.

That was a great post!

If you want an anodized sebenza there are any number of unique graphics out there that look great. These are done at CRK and carry a full warranty. IMO most of these "pimped" crk knives look like something that big gay al from Southpark would carry.

Let's refrain from linking this type of stuff.. We are better than that-

This has been a great post..Even with the mods to the knife, It's like worrying about hurting a hammer. With even hared use, that knife should outlast any of us,,,,and yes there are people who repair hammers.

What he said!! I could NOT agree more!

I am neither a lawyer or CRK employee, but I believe the answer is no. It becomes a liability problem.
