I needed to lose a few pounds, so I told myself that if I could reach my goal and lose approx. 45lbs I would reward myself with a Sebenza.

I reached my goal and just received in the mail today from Neil at True North Knives a Large Classic Snakewood Inlay Sebenza.

Congrat's on the weight loss. . .and the new addition !

That inlay is beautiful. :)

Congrats on the weight loss and the Sebenza. I'm doing the weight loss thing myself.

Great job Kevin! Weight loss=Energy gain, and you couldn't have picked a better incentive! I didn't lose any weight but still "rewarded" myself with a large Classic! Hasn't come let but should arrive right after Christmas.

Great job on both! I'll bet they each make you feel better. Paul

Outstanding! Weight loss and knife, good job sir!

Kevin,

Congratulations with the weight loss and the Snakewood Sebbie, I got an twin and I love it, but bought it before the weight loss :(

I also need to lose weight as the new scale that I bought for Christmas (memory, fat % water percentage etc) indicated 113,4 kg which translates to 250 lbs and I want to lose 55 pounds and end up at 88 kg.

How did you lose the 45 pounds ?

Cheers,

Bagheera

Thanks everyone for the kind words!

Bagheera - after reading a brochure at work on weight loss that suggested rewarding yourself once you reached your weight loss goal, I suggested to my wife that if I lost the weight I would buy a Sebenza (my first). She said "go for it", and so I set off with the Sebenza as my incentive. It was mostly a will power thing of just eating less at meals, not going for "seconds", taking smaller portions. I have been in the habit lately of eating more fruit for lunches and snacks, drinking more water and diet pop (soda), but mostly just eating less. I also bought a scale and checked my weight daily to measure my progress. You must find what works for you, and for me it was the Sebenza!

You know what they say: you can never be too thin, too rich, or have too many Sebenza's! Alright, maybe "they" don't say it. But it does make sense, right? :p geegee

Congrats! I did the weight-loss thing last year and lost 45 lbs, so my Body-Mass index is now 23.8 instead of almost 30.

BMI = ( weight in kg) / (height in meters^2)
BMI should be between 20-25

Piet, no candy/snacks, alcohol, fat food and just normal portions of regular healthy food did it for me.
Also as Kevin said, I weighed every morning ( 1/10 kg resolution), and put that in an Excel sheet, and compared it everyday against a week earlier to see the progress.

Kevin,

Thanks for the tips, that's how I lost an incredible 120 pounds when I met my wife when we both were studying at the University, I weight an incredible 135 kg (297 lbs) and lost 120 lbs to reach 157 lbs and did that by eating brown rice lots of veggies lean meat and no double/tripple servings + I went to the University Sport center twice a week for 2 hours (4 total) condition (+ weight) training.
I had the body of an athelete but after 24 years and a stressy job, irregular life and with 46 almost 47 a "midlife" dip I gained a lot of weight.

Ted, I need to drop from 31.6 to (20-25) so I have a nice job ahead.

Ted, for motivation I just bought myself an Flat Ground Large Sebenza used but in good condition, when I have it in the Netherlands I'm not touching it before I have lost at least 40 pounds .

Best scouting wishes from Holland,

Bagheera

Good Job and Good Choice!

I lost about 18 Lbs by just getting my Carbs under control. I realized that I was eating WAY to much rice, potatoes and pasta. Just by cutting most of that out of my diet I lost a pants size.

Good job! Weight loss is hard. I've got to get on the program as well. Beautiful knife:D

I was using the same stratagem but with a different aim : stopping smoking ! My Large Sebenza represents only 5 months of the money I usually spend for cigarettes. After this period, I was going to my cutlery shop. :D

Since this moment, I never smoked anymore. The problem is when you stop smoking, you put on weight. So I plain to buy a 5,5" GB if I succeed in losing my superfluous 6 kg...
:p
